I can't tell if yeast or worse herpes 😭

So, like everyone else I've scoured the whole bloody internet to find out what is wrong with me. There are things that point to herpes, and others that don't add up. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow, so all will be soon answered, but I'd like some peace of mind so I can sleep tonight, maybe.

So I had sex with someone a week ago, he is a close friend and I've never had problems when we have had sex before and I know he doesn't sleep around (single father that never goes out type). With that being said, I noticed that I had Uti symptoms such as a very light cloudy tint to my urine and when my urine stream would finish it would slightly hurt (not like ahhh I'm going to die hurt, like what's this hurt). I started drinking cranberry juice and lots of water. It seemed to clear up and things were fine. Then I started my period, no big deal as usual. The third day in I noticed little bumps on my labia majora (on my lips). I didn't have but like the normal slight itch that happens because of pads and I do shave down there and did about 5 days prior to these bumps appearing. I actually shaved the day I noticed the bumps and that's how I saw them better and knew something was off.. They were small and pink, slightly raised off my skin but more flat. I didn't notice any heads or anything on them, didn't have any burning or itching before they showed up...They just magically appeared. They look more red with a brighter light though..

I got worried, because well, bumps are always a no good scary sign in that region. So, I looked into things online and the reason I worry about it being herpes is it mentioned that the first outbreak can happen one to two weeks after exposure.. My time line fits... The first outbreak usually happens around one's cycle which can trigger it... That fits... It is often mistaken for a UTI (i had like 2 symptoms for a UTI and less than mild at that) but that fits... Now here is the confusion:

I know everyone experiences things differently and some say herpes sores hurt, some say they don't and some say symptoms don't even happen sometimes. The sores I have are seen better with a flashlight, they are not super visible with normal lighting and a glance. They don't seem to resemble any photos of herpes I've seen online. My bumps are spread out like a rash, but no harsh redness, just slight and it doesn't burn when I pee. No discharge from the bumps, a couple bled when I fiddled too much, and after I shaved since I didn't even know I had bumps at the time..it has been 4 days now and it seems most of my bumps are gone and clearing up. They didn't look like scabbed, some had dry skin around them after shaving but nothing yellow, no oozing, no scabs, no pain to touch them. A few tiny tiny bumps have like white heads that look normal like white heads which could be razor related...

The other issue that confuses me, is that I've not felt sick or nothing, just tired, but that's normal around my period. I also have an itchy feeling but only around my clitorus and normal itchy here and there on my area (nothing crazy itching wise except for my clit).. I noticed today (bumps almost gone mind you) that I've got thick discharge, it's watery and white and has a hint of fish smell. I never have discharge so I think yeast maybe? It looks like balled up wet toilet paper as far as consistency. Its white, no yellow or nothing else... My period finished up heavy wise on Saturday so now when I wipe I get dark mucusy old looking blood (last day wipe you know what I mean ladies)...

Can anyone tell me what you think? Please I'm looking my mind worried and stressed over here 😔

Sounds like a possible infection, could be yeast, could be bv. I don't know how long you've had the bumps but hsv causes sores that contain the virus, just like the ones you may have seen as a cold sore on someone's lip, once they open and crust over they begin to heal. You're right that not everyone has the same symptoms however when they are present they have some distinct characteristics. The discharge watery and whitish but not fishy.

The fact that your bumps are disappearing might make it harder for the swab culture to detect a correct diagnosis ... the discharge is what I had when I first got my outbreak ... I got diagnosed with BV.

    Along with.

It's many situations that you can't quite tell ..

The good thing is that you are going to the doctor to at least try and get some type of results.

I never had an cold / fever .. or the regular symptoms that you adapt when you get herpes ..

It's not too much telling ...

I wish you the best .

Did you talk to your friend about what you are going through ??

I'm curious how they would do a swab test when none of them actually popped. I mean some bled when I accidentally shaved but otherwise nothing else. They don't and didn't hurt either. Just felt raw inside but no sores inside or nothing. Idk maybe I'm just in denial until I know for sure. It's depressing as I'm sure you all know and understand.

I have yet to talk to him because I don't want to upset him unnecessarily until I know something. It's actually disappointing that herpes tests are not more accurate because reading others stories, I realize even if I test negative, it may not be the end to my worries. I know I have Hsv-1and maybe that's why if I have 2 then it's not a severe break out even if it's my first assuming I do have it.

I just know that if I do have it, I plan to try to get more photos out there that show non typical sores, so that people like myself currently could have a better comparison other than the worst of the worst cases. I feel like if I have it my life will be over and I'll never find someone to accept me and the condition. Sigh. 😭

      Mine weren't popped ..

They were just sores and they scab or heal away.

Your best bet if the test comes back negative with a swab would be to get blood work done later in the future .

If he is the last and most recent person you had sex with then its best to consult Him to let him know what's going on..

You went to the doctor today ? What did they say ??

They don't have to have any liquid to swab ...

Wherever the sore is I guess they just swab it... I don't know how it works but I know for a fact I didn't have any puss filled ones .

You're also healing pretty quickly which also makes me think that it's not herpes .

How long have you had this going on for ??

I noticed the bumps on Friday and Thursday I had none when I showered that evening. That's why I shaved the next day (i shave about every 5 to 7 days). Now, today most have them are gone minus a few small ones that are fading away. They never scabbed though either.. They don't look like ulcers either. Now my main issue is itching and discomfort inside by my clit, and over all in general till my butt area. Slight redness and I noticed rubbed away looking skin which may be from yesterday I put (diluted with water) vinegar on to help itching. Otherwise that's it with the discharge but it's more watery than white with slight fish smell but not over powering either.

Wow this story is very similar to mine!

Same kinda situation except he had just gotten back from Europe sooo I'm guessing he would have slept with someone. But he is always very careful, not that you can be careful enough with this!

Mine happened around the time of my period as well, I always get aches, pains and pretty bad flu like symptoms with that so I wasn't sure which it was!? Then I had a cloudy substance inside and later realised that was just a bad case of thrush so did I really have a flare up. So frustrating not knowing!

I went to the doctor with little bumps that didn't look like what google showed for herpes. 1 doctor said straight away yes sorry but that is herpes, I went for a second opinion (didn't believe her because some stuff didn't add up) and she said no way not herpes. So hard to test unless you have actual sores hat are big enough to get a sample from sad

I took a sample tube and needle home and did my best to get a sample myself when a sore popped and I'm due to get the result today or tomorrow but I'm not getting my hopes up because it can still be a false negative sad

Please share how everything goes if you don't mind. Would be interesting to hear what the doctor says about your situation

I can't even get a test tube because the sores don't look like something you pop. They are just small, red and pink mixed in top of dry looking skin on my lips. I just hope I get some answers with the test I'm getting done today. I'm a broke uninsured college student so I can't afford to keep getting tested. I just got tested in January and everything was clear. I had sex with my friend in November of last year in 2016 as well, so I figured it would show. If I did not have bumps I wouldn't be worried. Idk here is to hoping it's just something bacterial and curable. I have about 4 hours until my appointment. 😔

I always thought it was white pustule spots so you never know.

Aw I am the same sad been to so many appointments and I'm wasting all my money for no answers!

How did you go, did they do a blood test?

I'm waiting now, 2 hours of my life down the drain waiting with anxiety so far. They are doing a blood and swab to be safe and checking me for the std panel. Now to not lose my mind while waiting then waiting for the results after today -_- le sigh.

So possible good news is that my bumps (lucky I had a photo and a couple of small bumps left, the rest are gone 😒wink don't look like herpes. The doctor I saw is specifically an std/sti specialist. She took blood and a swab sample of the bumps I had left. We are checking across the board for all stds.. We shall see how it turns out.. It is going to take till Friday or Monday for the results though. Ugh the wait 😭 Thank you for helping me everyone I'll keep you all updated

That's such good news, happy for you! The wait is the worst.

If it does turn out to be it try not stress, it is a manageable condition and there are so many people out there who are able to help you smile

Sounds like your all clear though!

I won't celebrate yet. I know sadly I could get a false negative. I'm going to get rechecked if I get bumps again right away or in 6 months 😒. So far I do feel slightly better though smile

      Good idea.

Going to do what you did and see an actual specialist in sti's, hopefully I get some answers this time
