Does anyone else feel like their brains are working against them? I feel as though my brain is trying to make everything look scary and misinterpreting sounds etc. It's like my brains trying to make everything around me look scary, and it's working. Any help please.

Hiya, not sure if it's the same or even similar, but I definitely feel like my brain is against me at times, even when it's about something I know needs doing like doctor appoit- making and attending them. Or knowing my thought process is behaving purely down to my depression, but unfortunately I'm not at the point where knowing why I'm behaving as such isn't enough to change my behaviour towards it yet. I've been here before so know that it is possible to get past it to the next part, it's just getting over each hurdle. your brain feels like it's against you because sometimes part of you knows what needs to be done but the other part says "nope sorry not ready to deal with this st at the moment, I'l get back to you"

your brain will kinda help you work through each issue you have when it thinks you are ready to deal with it. it's quite good like that, it trys to save itself from a complete meltdown. take things 1 step at a time, 1 day at a time, if your brain is against you 1 day, go to bed early and see how tomorrow is. if that days a bit st, wait for the next day. A bad spell will always run it's course but you won't see it if you're not looking out for it.

I wish you all the best

Hi Samantha, it's been like this for around 3 weeks now, just constant torture, my brains trying to make anything and everything scary and I was just wondering what coping mechanisms there were, I'm on 45mg mirtazapine, 5mg olanzapine and the occasional Diazepam, although the diazepam doesn't calm my brain. I've just been on constant high alert for weeks and can barely leave the house. Thanks for your reply.
