12 years ago I have my knee replacement. Everything goes well except sometimes it is really painful because I'm still working. I'm now 53 years old and last winter I fall in the snow. I call 911 because I can't walk to the car. In the emergency they xray it and thank God that everything is well. I'm now in crutches after 3 months of fall because I fell the buckling on my knee. I went to physio and the physio help. I can walk a little bit but after that I can still fell different from before. I have no confidence in walking without the crutches. I already went to my specialist and he said I just need physio. I still do my physio once in a while and try to walk by myself but I don't confidence because I can still fell weakness on my knee. Is there somebody there have the same issue as me. Please help me back my confidence to walk again.

Hi Amy....it's great to hear from someone that had a knee replacement 12 years ago.

Can I ask if you have had any trouble with infection? I might be paranoid but I have this infected cyst on my eyelid, I had three courses of antibiotics and it cleared the infection for a few weeks but it's infected again now.

I was told that after tkr we should be worried about any infection that could spread into the blood stream.

I'm sorry to hear about your fall, I would use the crutches until I felt a bit more confident then perhaps go to a walking stick or even two, just until you feel sure of yourself.

The physio should be building your leg strength up a bit, keep up the good work you'll get there.

    Good luck.

Hi Jenny.... Thank you for your response...that is also my doctors warning to me. I don't have issue in infection probably because of one Apple a day I guess. Everyday I make sure that I have 3-4 fruits. I blend it in the blender and drink it. I think that helps a lot In the infection issue. And  From time to time I also drink tumeric tea.

I hope one day you are out of your antibiotic and get better

Hi Amy - the best advice I can give you is to do as much physio as possible! Your knee is a joint and needs the strength of the muscles around it to feel strong and stable. Without strengthening and balancing exercises, it will continue to feel weak and more so, mentally, you can begin to feel less and less confident in your own abilities. I am 7 weeks out from my TKR and even at 29 I can see the huge importance of doing exercises multiple times daily. Good luck to you!

Hi Meeler.... Thank you for your advice... That helps a lot to fell better emotionally. Because sometimes I fell depressed and fell impatient on when my knee will get strong and walk without crutches. Right now that's what iam doing.  Stationary bike, squat and stretching.

      You take care, avoid falling.
