I had the Urolift procedure on Monday

Posted , 4 users are following.

It was done outpatient.  I had 2 hydrocodone (7.5) bofore was well as 2 mg of xanax.  The procedure hurt, and certainly more than a bee sting, but less than an amputation!.  It was bearable.  It is now Wednesday. There is mild stinging when i urinate, but I am taking phenazopyridine (100mg) 3 times a day to hlp that.  Yesterday i had a few instance where I felt I had to go, only to find out that I had actually peed. That has calmed down today. Physician said that I should still take finasteride and levitra (I have taken it daily- actually helped BPH symptoms quite a bit). I told him that I do not want to take finasteride anymore and he said to just stay on the levitra.  I buy the levitra from India since insurance won't cover it in the US and it is so expensive in US.  So far I have no complaints with the procedure.  I will report back as to longer term experiences.

Thanks for the report. What doctor did it, and where was it done?

I am now about three weeks post urolift.  It was done by Ronald Anglade outside of Atlanta, GA.  I had a lot of stinging when urinating but that has ended.  Stream is better, but still go to bathroom a fiar amount, although I did that even when younger.  I stopped the finasteride and the procedure was worth it just for that.  My sexual funciton has returned to normal.  I was nearly unable to have an orgasm while on that stuff and now it works nicely.  My orgasms are really intense now and for that I am grateful.  I am pleased with the results so far.

That sounds great. Have you asked your doctor what to expect as time goes on and your prostate continues to grow? Please continue to keep us posted as you continue to recover.

Thanks so much for your information.

He said that if necessary he could do in again in future years to add more clamps.  Its not such a bad procedure that it would not be tolerable if needed.  I continue to take daily Levitra, by the way.  Physician said it is OK.  So far I continue to be pleased.  I forgot to mention that I had a catheter overnight, which they showed me how to remove myself.  Had a one week followup and all was OK.  Go back in 3 months.

Great. I had hoped that would be the case. Also, as time goes on, more, better procedures might come along, and this will keep you from having the dreaded turp. I'm looking forward to your future status reports.

Hey William  Had a urolift done 4 weeks ago  I had more pain for the catheter then the surgery.  Most of the time they don't use a catheter but in my case my doctor said it was best.  I don't pee on demand.  He was afriad I would clog.  The catherter came out  2 days after and it did burn for a day or 2.  Now I am on no meds and peeing great.  He put in 4 implants.  It's new but he say it should last 10 or more years..Take care  Ken
