I have a new partner who has G Herpes

Im 57 female, always been slim and reasonably fit and look 15 years younger. 25 years ago, i contracted GHerpes,  My Dr treated it and it disappearded, i never got it again. My new partner has the virus (not from me) and had a small red area which he treated early BEFORE it blistered and weeped. I had unprotected sex with him 5 days after he noticed it. Can I assuem its OK to have unprotected sex as long as the blisters or weeping is NOT present? Since i never had symptoms again after 25 odd years, Do I have a high immunlity to it and less likley to have it again? I was told by a Dr I have a high immunity to Hepititis, 10% of South Europeans have this apparently.

It is my understanding that once you have GH you have it for life. You may not get break outs but it is still in your body and will always be there. If you both have herpes you cant get it again. It is very possible that coming in contact with open blisters may cause yours to flare up again but if no blisters are present there shouldnt be reason to think you would get a breakout from having sex.

Ok, so I guess I have GH even tho no breakouts. Seems the main thing is for my partner not to get run down which I know he did on the long weekend we had away, too much drink and partying will do it.

Its a matter of being healthy, vigilant and attacking it in its early stages.

Im goijg to research what vitamins he needs to booste his immunit. Vit C is one of them, any tips appreciated. Thanks again

Ya, Ive only had the first full breakout and none since then. Main thing like you said is staying healthy and knowing what triggers the breakouts. Usually stress and overdoing it.

For immunity boost, he can add vitamine E and Zinc.

To deal with the virus itself, L-lysine has been shown to suppress it. It is an amino-acid not produced by the body so must be found in your diet (or taken as supplement). Meanwhile, the amino-acid arginine helps the virus replicate. The two compete for absorption by the body so you're basically looking at having a diet higher in lysine than arginine. You can look up websites that list food high in lysine/low in arginine (high lysine/arginine ratio). Typically your enemies are nuts and seeds (adn chocolate... byebye Nutella sad ) while meat and animal products (Say... "Cheese!") are good for you.

You can combine this with taking lysine supplement. I go for 3-4mg a day during outbreaks (studies found this amount to have some effects) but I've read about people taking as much as 8mg (that's a lot of pills!!) for the first day of outbreak - I guess, to nip it in the bud...

Hi there, I take up to 16 mg for the first two days of an outbreak, then reduce to about 8 mg per day for the 2nd and 3rd days and find that I get a very small patch and normally it is cleared up in about 5-7 days. I take about 2 - 3 mg every day in the hopes of keeping it at bay but even with this, when I'm anxious etc, I get numerous outbreaks. Stress, anxiety, tiredness, alcohol are all bad for me.

My partner tells me he eats nuts & seeds every morning, he thinks they are good for him.

according to your email, nuts, seeds, chocolate are bad, they are full of arginine, is that correct?

He needs to get more Lysine

Aaargh! I was supposed to write that I take 16 Grammes NOT milligrammes etc! I take 2 x 1000 mg up to 16 000 mg per day i.e. 16 grammes.

Rita, nuts, seeds, chocolates and all those nice things are full of Arginine which the virus loves so much better to reduce the intake drastically to cut down on the number of outbreaks and the severity of them.

Once you have HSV you have it for life. The best thing to do with outbreaks is to find out what your triggers are. For me it was anemia and stress. My blood count was reading at 8. It's supposed to be 12.
