I Have Chronic BV and Can Not Find Relief

Posted , 5 users are following.

I am new here and I'm sure this site is full of this particular problem, but I don't have internet at home and am having to sneak on here at work so I don't have time to read everything on this.

I have had BV constantly for the last 2 years. 2 years of the odor, itching, and worst of all, THE BURNING!!! I am writing this feeling a burning sensation in my vagina like it is on fire and that is an everyday occurence.

I have spent $100's on doctors, pills, creams, yogurt, probiotics. I bought a book on it. Skimmed over websites and documents. I have recently started eating more veggies and using the "pull out method" during sex (I only have one sex partner) I have recently tried hydrogen peroxide douching but stopped that so I could use another $100 cream given to me by my doctor. I am two weeks into using it and I am still burning!

I am tired of crying on the phone with my doctors, crying at work, crying in front of my boyfriend. I am tired of the pain and wasted time and money. I want help. Real help. I want to have kids one day and even that might not happen because of this illness. Its just depressing.

Can ANYONE please let me know, if you have suffered from CHRONIC BV for more than a year and you are no longer suffering. PLEASE tell me what you did. Give me a list and a schedule. I am desperate.

And please, only serious answers. I am suffering here sad

Hey, had it for justover a year, tried prescriptions, vinegar, and lastly I used Vitamin C with rosehips in it. I was instructed to use the 500 mg bottle, but picked up the 1000 mg by accident. Thats what I use now. It can't be a capsule. It has to be the chalky pill form. I inserted it before bed, I put a tampon in as well, because without the tampon the Vit C will burn. I used it for a week. The smell was gone by the end of the next day and symptoms improved after two days. I did this treatment for about a week. Since using this method i have only had to do it abput four times, and i first tried it over a year ago. It might not work but it's worth the try. The acidity in the vitamin c with rosehips restores ypur PH levels in your vagina. It doesnt have to be a particular brand either. Good luck.

Also I want to add that I'm only certain I have had BV back on one occasion since the first treatment. Any other time I used it was purely out of caution. A lot of women say this works for them. I want to add also that I've read several women state tbat it has been linked to a larger medical issue. You should get checked by your Dr for other things too.

Thank you for you're reply. I made a memo in my phone about the vitamin C. I've heard of doing that in the past but never tried it because I am scared a tampon will make it worse. But I will look further into this method and may give it a try.

And as far as it being a larger medical issue, I may ask about that. Only I will ask a different doctor. My doctor has turned into a one trick pony -_-

      Thanks again!

Also a nurse told me that whileI had BV all of my panties/pants need to be washed in hot water, so that the bacteria is eliminated in that sense. It is also possible to have a yeast infection an bv at the same time.

Yes I have had both at the same time a few times. And thanks for the laundry advice.

Have You also taken meds f for yeast? you Might have both, unfortunately I've had this over two years with no relief so I can't help, but I never had burning

The cream I am using at the moment treats both. My doctor thought it was yeast infection during my last visit and I, suprisingly, was so happy to hear it wasn't BV. BUT they sent a sample to a lab and it came back as NO YEAST INFECTION but was infact BV....my body is void of Lactobacillus. For some reason my body is not retaining good bacteria.

And yes, I burn everyday. Even though the doc said she didn't see any inflammation...I am still burning. I don't know if she's stupid or my body is just playing games with me

    Ash,

I've had BV for the past 2 years on and off, but as of 8 months ago, I wasn't able to get rid of it. I tried different doctors, at first there was nothing wrong, I came across this really nice PA who ran a bucnh of tests and look at my sample underneath a microscope. He came back with an answer, BV. Tried different antibiotics, gels and home remedies, NOTHING worked. I was even put on antidepressants because I was sinking down a dark hole where I saw no end.

I came across inserting vitamin C and tried it right away, I was desperate. I also, bought some hydrogen Peroxide and I douched a few times with it. Today is my 5th day inserting vitamin C and the smell is very faint. I am unsure I am cured (maybe because everything else failed!) I will give it some time. The results of inserting Vitamin C have been amazing, best treatment I've had (not sure if the douching helped, but I haven't not done it today)

Also, I read somewhere Calcium Bentonite Clay powder helps to strengthen your immune system. I have been taking a teaspoon for 6 days. Idk, if that's helped also, but I am going to continue taking it for another week or so.

I highly recommend inserting vitamin C. However, I bought the 500mg without rosehips (i didn't know I needed to get that) And it's worked so far for me. The only thing is you will get an abnormal discharge orange/red almost like your period is about to start, it will be chunky so make sure you use papertowels (bounty are the best for me) Pantyliners work, but they don't let your vagina breath, that is why I switch to paper towels from bounty. I started inserting 1 per day, increased 3x for the next day and switch to 2x daily, by the 3rd day I am only inserting one.

    I hope this helps.

Also, I don't use any soaps down there. I use very little baking soda when I feel I smell too much, but NO soaps or anything really. Try to stay clear from anything that will change pH. Not a lot of sugars as the bacteria thrives of it. Drinks lots of water and increase your intake in vitamins.

Thank you so much. You are the second to mention Vitamin C inserts. And I also do not use soaps down there. But I will definately give the vitamin c a try. Thank you so much for your input. Good luck with your BV in the future and I am glad you are feeling better!!! Feels amazing I am sure smile

No smell on day 6, girl. I am going to stop inserting unless it returns. So far, it's worked for me. I am very happy. My confidence is back. I even excelled in a meeting this morning. I am sooo happy. Tell me your results! I'd love to hear them.
