I had my hip surgery 9 weeks ago and i do not remember headaches.  Good luck with your new hip and go slowly with your recovery, it takes time for all those tendons to relax back...

Have you told the docs. A girl in the same ward panicked when they were doing the spinal block and she had a major leak of the fluid surrounding the spinal cord. This produced fiendish headaches for the poor kid. I don't think yours is as bad, she couldn't even sit up let alone walk. She found it was especially bad when changing position from horizontal to attempts to sit up.

If it is that, you have to wait for healing of the leak and the fluid to rebalance again. I got the impression from her Mum that the bigger the leak the longer lasting the headache but I have no idea on time scales.  I would mention it to your doctors and see what they say. Bad luck, it sounds miserable.

I am 5weeks post op, and I remember having headaches the first week or so. I don't normally get headaches. I think it was the spinal, and the pain meds.  Once I cut down on the pain meds, I did a lot better. I tried drinking lots of fluids, to help clear my system.

    Best of luck.

Hi there, I too had an underlying headache which got me down. It lasted for the first 10 days or so.  I was so relieved when it went. Good luck!
