I have had the 24 hour pH manometry test. You may read about it in my blog on my personal website www ChrisRob co uk. Select "manometry" from the drop down menu beneath the "Barretts" tab.
Shoulder pain is one of those referred pain peculiarities of reflux, If you must use ibuprofen, you may find it better applied as gel to the affected area rather than ingesting a tablet. Like other NSAIDs, inuprofen can produce excess acid. Otherwise you're pretty much limited to paracetamol though co-codamol in UK {which has a small amount of codeine in the mix) is stronger (if you tolerate codeine). Not sure whether it;s available in US and if so, what it's called. (I'm guessing you may be from across the pond?)
Over 15 years, I used various different PPIs - omeprazole, lansoprazole, pantoprazole, as well as H2 blockers - ranitidine and Gaviscon as well as the reactive antacids - Rennie, Tums. The most effective acid suppressants are the PPIs. They are all as effective as each other when taken in equivalent dose but some are tolerated by some patinets better than others. I was on omeprazole most of the time ending up on very high dose 80mg before having redfux reduction surgery (Nissen fundoplication) rendering me med free.

I have appointment in the mid of this month to have another test PH study. I dont use iburopen. I use panamax and very limited. I dont want to use Gaviscon for it has espatham which may cause cancer too. I stop omeprazole for I still suffer bouts of reflux at midnight. I sleep with three pillows and underneath my bed is two bricks. I aslo eat little but gives me uncomfortable feeling and I cant sleep. I am trying to drink soya milk the formula for toddler because I am afraid too much med and chemical will cause Kidney failure. I am not young anymore I am living in Australia. We have pandeine. Can you tell me what do they find you after PH test? Is it too much acid or too little acid?
Thanks for sharing.

I don't know panamax, but guessing it's probably what in UK is sold as Panadol extra which is paracetamol based.
I think you are being over worried about the effects of drugs. They do far more good than harm.
The 24hr pH test provides many readings of acid levels. In a normal, at rest, stomach it should be around 4 and drop to around 1 as required. My own pH test showed a pH of around 1 most of the time and a DeMeester score (calculated from exposure times to excess acidity etc) of 179 - when the normal readings should show 14.7 and anything over is considered hyperacidic.
