I have multiple breaks in one leg, need help!!!

I was recently in a car accident where my leg was smashed between a tree branch and the dash of my car. It broke the head of my femur, my femur shaft, my tibia (ankle) and my big toe. I had 2 surgeries complete with a rod in my femur and plates in my ankle. My worst pain is in my knee and nobody can seem to tell me why. It’s a terrible pain. It keeps me up at night. My nerves haven’t returned where the incisions are. I have been out of the hospital for about 4 weeks. I’ve tried multiple PT exercises but nothing is fixing this knee pain!!

Sorry to hear about your accident. You must speak to your Doctor or Consultant and don't let them fob you off. My knee pain is from a complete TKR and my pain keeps me awake at night. I will be back at the hospital on Friday, that's six weeks from my op.

I'm going with a list of questions! !

Ask about getting your painkillers changed, if you haven't already done so.

    Good luck .

Broken bones can take 6 weeks or longer to mend but soft tissue much longer and damaged nerves can take months. I'm assuming you have some hardware inserted and if that's correct, you are introducing a foreign object to add to the mix. Pain meds on a scheduled basis is the 1st requirement, then icing on a regular as needed basis. Elevate, drink plenty of fluids and don't overdo things. Patience in getting your life back on track is very important. Trying to be healed before the body is ready will just create setbacks. Do the exercises but be kind to yourself with how hard you push. You have a ways to go.
