I have so much discomfort today!

Today I did my home exercises and didn't take any pain meds beforehand. The only thing different I did was pedal backwards on my upright stationery bike. Also I tried my lower stationery bike which I had no trouble pedaling. After exercise I had so much pain walking And felt as if something was jabbing me in the knee. I am 7 weeks post op and still having a lot of down days. Yesterday I had to be in the car for an hour and a half and did get pretty stiff. I wonder what the jabbing pain is all about. Feels like metal is in the way. Does anyone else experience this along with the usual stiffness?

Nothing unusual in anything you're saying. Lots of different feelings for many months to go. Some of this may help...

Dear Connie, so sorry to hear that you have a collapsed bone. It is funny I don't always have this feeling, it comes and goes. I see my surgeon on April 11 and I'm sure he will take X-rays. If it persists I will make an earlier appointment, Let me know how you make out, prayers being said for you!

Vi had that same pain and the PT said it was bone pain felt in the joint. Completely normal. That's all I want to know, is this normal?

I don't feel like metal is in the way but still get major stiffness after sitting long time, walking, exercising, etc. I'm 7 weeks post too. When will it end?? I know it takes awhile but damn it all!!

Dear Eizie, I'm with you when will all this end? So much suffering and lack of sleep! So depressing, just want to be well again. I know it will come but can't come fast enough! Hope you feel better!

A Zen Master would say: "It will end when it ends."...just like when we asked our dads on every damn car ride: "When will we get there?" The answer always was: "WHEN WE'RE THERE!!!!" Same thing.
Read my posts, above...may help a bit.

Hi Dolores, I'm 7 weeks too & I find the least little thing I do different or extra I get stiffness & terrible jabbing pains, when I first climbed the stairs properly, & walked a bit further, I have to rest more . I think it's the nerve ends .sometimes I feel the pain is no better, but I guess it must be. I'm trying
to massage my scar more now I use Bio oil, to desensitise it. Everyone is saying that 7 weeks is way to early , give it 7 months & you'll feel completely different. Keep your chin up , I know it's horrid & seems to be going on forever , but it WII get better loads of folk say months later it's the best thing they ever did. Hard to believe isn't it . X

Delores, I've had virtually no pain apart from one night since I got home from the op two and a half weeks ago but I am doing the recumbent bike for half a circuit every day and also walking outside more. Last night I struggled to get comfortable in bed. It's the left knee I had done and there was pain from the lower right quadrant of the knee, which having a wild guess and looking up the anatomy of the knee, is likely to be the medial ligament that maybe has been a bit more inflamed from more use. It's fine during the day though and once I've got to sleep it's actually the non operated leg waking me that is clicking and crunching with every movement. I haven't been on pain meds for ages now and am happy with that but the initial struggle to get to sleep is a nuisance. I guess though, if this is the worst I'm going to get with this (who knows?) I can't complain. I am icing right up to going to bed. Are you? I'm sure your car journey would have made things more difficult though. This is the first morning I'm using the desktop computer rather than laptop, so sitting with knees bent, but it won't be for long. I'm elevating and icing all the time normally.
