I don't mean to aggravate. But I'm on prozac 40mg for three week, increased from 20. But I felt nothing for the first two weeks and then I felt the most depressed. I felt better the next 5 days and now depressed again I had a crying spell and thinking in a wrong way. It makes me think I should not be on prozac. But I have felt really good some days on prozac and depressed some. My partner says I'm a lot better. I need some encouragement is this going to stop? Is this medication right?

I can't comment on the prescription of Prozac, however we have seen with our daughter (who has been on Fluoxetine) that it can take some time for the medication to take effect.  She was on it for at least 8-9 weeks before we saw any real benefit - although now it has been quite a dramatic improvement.  All we could say to her was to keep going.  She was very up and down but is now much happier, calmer and getting back to how she was (although there are still the occasional low moments as you would expect).  All I can suggest is that you keep battling with the knowledge that medicaiton will take time to take full effect. Best wishes

It absolutely normal.  You'll feel up and down like this for a while.  Yes it will stop, and the medication is working.  Just keep on going, through all the ups and bad down times, through everything, and you'll pass through it and out the other side.  Most people have been through the same journey on this type of meds.

Dont give up, it can take a few months even.  Just head down, push forward all the time.  You're doing well.

Valerian I know it's very hard but it passes..and then comes back. Do not increase the medication as it takes a couple of months...but don't base getting better solely on medication. Question the thoughts that take you back. I know it is scary because I have been there. You are in a rollercoaster...it will pass.
