Im a 28 yr old female with a history of heavy alcohol use for the last 10 yrs. I know its bad and i do try to work on it cuz I obviously dont want to die or get cancer but its hard sometimes. I was diagnosed with IBS in 2015 after a colonoscopy and endoscopy came back clear. My main symptoms back then were constipation, stomach pain, dull left upper abdominal pain on and off, pain in my upper left back and shoulder blade area, heart burn, and itchy skin. Now my back pain getting worse and the dull pain in my right abdomen is more persistent. Im terrified my drs missed something more serious.

have you stopped drinking? obviously you should stop completely 100%..
did you get your blood work done before?
its natural to worry... if it was just ibs i wouldn't worry so much..... just go back to the dr for a check

got blood drawn today but im honestly not convinced blood really tells you anything. My mom was diabetic and had alot of problems and was getting testing like twice a week and out of no where ended up with liver cirrhosis to the point if no fixing. She wasnt a drinker but was delt a bad hand in health. I have had many tests the last 5 yrs and im very vocal to my dra about how much i drink and i tell them specifically my concerns are alcohol related and they will agree to test me but never actually look into it or give me information id like on dealing with my issue or even act as though my fears are a possibility. i have seen 5 different drs in 5 yrs including gi specialists due to ibs. i know im not very smart to keep drinking but when they make it feel like my problems are nothing then i think im ok to continue. its been 3 days since i drank very very heavily and i have bad upper left back shoulder blade pain and left arm pain and slight right upper abdomen pain. ive had these pains before but not this strong or this long lasting consecutively before and i just had avocado bread today with tea and i am beyond full. again these are all things ive mentioned to my drs through out the 5 years as well.

Hi Alice,
I'm in a really similar situation. I'm 27 and I have a history of drinking over the past 10 years.
I experience mid back and shoulder blade pain. It's a dull and persistent pain with episodes of "stabbing pain". I also feel it under my right ribs.
Indigestion, bloating, hiccups, cramps, heartburns and all imaginable gi symptoms.
How are your stools/ bowel movements ?
As for the tests, I had multiple imaging, stool, urine and blood tests done. None of them were conclusive.
Stay away from alcohol and smoking, try to implement a healthy low fat diet and make sure to drink lots of water.
Stay safe,
Alex
