I love Fluoxetine

Posted , 5 users are following.

I was given these 6 days ago and was terrified when I read these posts, made me think it was only gonna get worse.

Day 6, I've had NO side effects whatsoever other then the occassional spaced out yawn.... Im loving them, I feel better already.

Venlafaxine was HIDEOUS and made me so sick....

So if any of you read this, I am at least one person who has had nothing but good experiences in my first week with fluoxetine...

    Hi,

I am about 3 weeks in and also have no real side effects. I am really tired but I think that is because I am waking up early which is the depression not the meds.

On a side note, I have seen some info stating best to avoid alcohol. I'm having the odd glass now and then but will be avoiding it in public!

I love fluoxetine....they WORK!!!!!!!! No real side affects, just muscle twitches when tired but an extremely small price to pay for pure calmness and contentment. Thank you fluoxetine. If you are struggling with depression get help!!!!!! Good luck

    HI

I've been on it for 4 days now and only side effects are feeling a bit panic/ sweating in the morning, but its the anxiety and once i'm up i'm ok…. been on the tablets before and know they work - just want to do lots of counselling with them to try and prevent relapses

Thank you have just been prescribed fluoxetine after horrendous experience on mirtazapine and after reading some of the posts thought I was going from one set of bad side effects to another. Will give them a try and hopefully will be as lucky as you with minimum side affects

Hi Catherine, i am considering taking fluoxetine for hot flushes, as i am really suffering with not sleeping and flushes every 10 minutes, this is causing me to be very depressed, can you confirm if you put any weight on at all with these tablets and do you feel generally healthy and happy on them? many thanks

      Hi there.

I was prescribed them on Friday morning so have been on them for 5 days and for me they are far better than the mirtazapine which made me feel like I had been tranquilized.  The fluoxetine in comparison are great. Although advised they can take a couple of weeks to work I am already feeling happier and able to concentrate better. Some people have said they have lost weight on them but bit early for me to say yet. I have noticed that toast seems really dry and couldn't eat it. The only other thing is that my ankles went slightly swollen at night but unsure if this is cos of the meds or because I had stood more than normal, could be coincidence.  In general though these seem to be causing no major problems and generally my mood is lifting. I am optimistic and also hoping that my appetite reduces as many others have reported. Knowing my luck though that won't work with me lol. I'd definitely give them a shot and hopefully they will work as well for you xx

wow thats sound good, i will have to see a doctor to get them prescribed or can you buy them over the counter? I am not sleeping with the hot flushes waking up every two hours its dreadful, hence very tired when i have to go to work and by 5.00pm ready for bed but there again cant sleep ! i am conscious of putting on weight as i have a thyroid problem so everything i eat puts weight on me.  I hope i can buy them over the counter thank you  repsonding so quickly, good luck with them and i hope they reduce your appetite T x

They have to be prescribed as do all antidepressants, mental health is a fragile thing and it's to ensure you don't over dose as well as checking on side effects etc.
