I'm afraid to transmit ...

Hi everyone,

I have been diagnosed with HSV-2 about 4 years ago. I have done a lot of research about it and made my peace with it. I continued my life as if everything was fine, but being more careful about transmiting the condition to any potential partner. And it worked well for years. I have never passed it to anyone. Recently, my now ex girlfriend needed a test for some other reasons and found out she has it as well. I was devastated that I might be the one that gave it to her, although I did everything I could to protect her from it. But then we were thinking, since she had no symptoms at all and she has no outbreaks whatsoever, is it possible that she had it before, just never knew about it? My real question is... I have 7-10 oubreaks per year... Can I infect someone with this strain of virus I have, so that the person has no symptoms and outbreaks at all???

Any insight on this matter is appreciated,

Thanks

    Hi Marsseluss,

Sounds like you're a good guy that cares what happens to other people. I've had GH for years and have made it a point to be very knowledgable on the subject. From everything I've read and heard from doctors, is that yes, you can transmit your particular strain. I'm not an expert of course, but it's better to be safe than sorry. Good luck to you man!

    God bless!

      Thanks for the reply scott1776,

I realise my question is not that clear smile I know I can transmit it, but what I'm not sure about is, if I infect someone with my strain of virus which comes with a lot of outbreaks, can that person have no outbreaks at all? Meaning, is it only depending on the immune system of an infected person or the strain has something to do with it? Can the strain of virus mutate when passed from "lots-of-outbraks-strain" to "no-outbreaks-strain" or just her body copes with it better than mine, so she has no outbreaks?

      Thanks again.

I'm not sure... I've read and heard different things, from crazy strains to weak immune systems. Their may be someone who can answer that part better than I can.  Sorry I couldn't have been more help

The immune system plays a big part in how one experiences symptoms, I know guys tend to be more asymptomatic than females in which they don't present with signs and symptoms like us girls do, so it's a hard one

I was told by the clinic  doctor when i was diagnosed years ago that if you contract the virus that it will show in a couple of days.

(Was afraid my now wife may have contracted it from me)from what i was told.. So it is possible that she contracted it from another source. ... So you should ask her if she had unprotected sex with another individual and then showed signs .. hope that helps
