I am really struggling at the moment. Every day is difficult for me. I am struggling to go to work and then when I do go to work I struggle to last the day.
I am experiencing a lot of tiredness, a lot of sadness and I'm not really eating properly. I have been eating just once a day. Something like a bowl of cereals or a sandwich.
I feel like I'm letting everyone down. My boss seems to be being quite awkward with me and not sympathetic at all. Almost manipulating me into coming to work. When at the moment I don't feel as though I can. I feel it would be different if I had a broken leg for example and was unable to work.
I have been to my doctor, spoken to him about how low I have been feeling. So I have been prescribed some different antidepressants. Firstly I have to start taking less of the ones I currently take for, then I am to take one of the old ones and one of the new ones for a week, until finally I come to taking two of the newer ones.
Reaching that third week seems so far away. I struggle to get through just one day, 21 days seems unachievable.
I don't really know what I'm asking here.

My friend, you have to cope. The alternative is not a solution. I promise you, you will get thru this. Life will improve. You just have to keep searching, w/ the help of a mental health professional. I had been on many antidepressants looking for the right one. I may have finally found the medication.
I know it feels hopeless. I was exactly where you are now. There is test now that involves swabbing the inside of your mouth on each side. Your Dr. will send it off to special lab. Within about 2 weeks the results come back w/ what medication is best suited for you based on DNA information. I discovered that I was missing an enzyme that was related to Dopamine, Serotonin & Vit. B. Of course, that certainly is a cause for my clinical depression. Also, it resulted in my medication changing. Please ask your Dr. for this test. The lab company will work with you
if you need financial help. Although, it was surprisingly affordable, Update us on what he/she says. Hang on, its worth it. Take care, my friend.

dear Ele,
unfortunately ,i can see where the boss is coming from,as small independent campanies struggle with sickness.
As for your boss,he seems not to have had any experience with mental heath i.e personally or family
e.t.c.
As for medication, you will have to persevere, I'm afraid.some take longer to get in your system.
Please talk to your nearest and dearest,it really does help.
Try to
contact Time to Talk or any similar, I have found that talking to someone independent really helps
Just to say i have been there(got the t shirts) ,so any of this makes sense,?
dont hesitate to contact me.
Best wishes,Richard

Hi Ele, your situation seems so characteristic of depression as I understand it.
When I was younger I experienced a crippling inability to face going to work and eventually an inability to get off the bed altogether even though I was dressed. I didn't know back then about depression and therefore had no medication. I guess eventually I just forced myself to do what had to be done, although I don't recommend this approach. We need to apply gentleness and understanding, not force.
Maybe eating only what you really like will jump start your appetite. But a therapist definitely seems to be called for here.
You are NOT letting anyone down. The only person you have to think about is yourself and taking care of yourself and doing whatever is necessary to feel better.
Please be patient about the medication taking effect. I understand that there's always a certain amount of experimentation required but it's worth it once the right medication is found and you will feel worlds better.
Be gentle with yourself and allow yourself to nap and indulge yourself, just so you're getting the right amount of physical exercise - that's important to achieve stability emotionally and mentally.
