I'm furious

Two weeks after my HIDA I asked Gastro doc secretary to ask him for my result. Although I feel I should have got a follow up appointment at the clinic. I'm still in pain and cannot eat a full meal.

I got back by e mail two sentences which was from Gastro doc to his secretary saying " HIDA scan normal ie not gallbladder disease"

I hope the citalogram helps ease her symptoms !!! He gave me an antidepressant which said by two different pharmacists has no bearing on gb or abdo pain what so ever. Hence why I'm not taking it and becoming depended on it for no reason.

So I've fired off a rather trey mail back asking him to have the decency to at least write me a letter with the results. How would I have known my results had I not mailed the secretary.

I'm so angry at my treatment. I feel like making a formal complaint. But I work in same hospital so it could be a bit embarrassing.

I'm no further on and don't know what to do now   It's ruining my quality of life and this doctor couldn't give a damn.

    Why citralopram?

    are you stressed ?

could you have ulcers or gastritus etc which is aggregated by stress?

you do need to get to the bottom of why he prescribed them . It may make sense and explain your symptoms . But so sorry you've been pushed around and ignored.

dont just sit back get to the bottom of it . Just in case it doesn't make sense and get a second opinion.

I don't think I'm stressed. I'm maybe stressing over feeling like this every single day with no give up.

Doctor said the drug is supposed to help with stomach pain. But when I went to get the prescription I went to two different pharmacies and both looked in their books and said they couldn't find where it helped for my problem. So I'm thinking the doctor is thinking my problems are because of stress and I need it for that but just masked it by saying for stomach pain.

I'm so fed up now with this. Everyday I am suffering with heartburn pain bloatedness it's difficult to cope with on a day to day basis with no respite.

Are you on omeprazole or another proton pump inhibitor?

these drugs stop your stomach producing 90 percent of it's acid to help you heal?

i think you need to go to your gp . And have a good chat .

my hubby had an endoscopy and the sigoscopy and was told little gastritus and you just have over active bowels . Some people just process food fast. He came away thinking what a waste of time that was... He has constant diarroeah . Two years later while chatting to the gp about his whole problem he has CFS. The gp says the hospital put in there letter you have IBS. Would you like some tablets to take to slow it down!

he was so surprised ... Yes please ..

You have symptoms you need a remedy to get a remedy you need a diagnosis. Go to your gp and say what is it? They may send you for an endoscopy to rule out ulcers or worse. Don't stop till your treated... If u work in a hospital you know why? Get every box ticked just in case.

really feel for you and even if you might come across stressed doctors need to rule out physical before they jump on the nerves......be a nuisance if you don't no one else will. Too many sweet souls suffer...

Thanks Sally. I feel they have palmed me off for three years now.

I've admittedly had lots  of tests but they don't seem to have a label other than IBS then ok if it's definitely that tell me how to deal with it. Don't give me anti depressants for gods sakes.

Hi kim, it's so frustrating when people don't realise how much pain of this type affects your life. I've been prescribed amitriptyline which is an anti depressant but at a low dose can be used for pain relief ( I'm having ongoing pain after having my gallbladder removed). May be this doc has prescribed the wrong medication? Sally is right though, it pays to be a nuisance. Hope things get sorted. X

He prescribed my amytrypltiline too but I refused to take it as it can cause heart problems. My Neice was taking it for three years for migraines and she now has SVT and has a pacemaker at 39!! There was no way I was taking that. Then he prescribed me citalogram ! Another antidepressant. The pharmacists said they could not see a connection other than it de stressing me which might help with stomach. If I wasn't stressing about my stomach in first place I wouldn't be in this predicament. Not rocket science.
