I don't think you should be too worried about taking 20mg. Side effects are just part of getting used to the medication and you should be concerned only if they don't go away after a few weeks. If that happens talk to your GP and see if there's an alternative. There are many SSRIs and it's a matter of finding the one that's suitable for you.

I am new to the site and I have been on 10mg for 4 weeks and am about to up the dose to 15 and then probably 20. I have used them before succesfully and they eventually helped me level out my anxiety and low moods. After 6 years off meds I have struggled lately so back on. I think the first 2 weeks are the worst so stick at it and hopefully you will see some real benefit.

Hi I was on 20mg of Cit for a month, but my gp upped it to 40mg, the side effects have almost gone, I am starting to feel a little better, but it has taken six weeks so far, still feel anxious, but try to keep myself busy. Also I read a lot, which I find relaxes me, and its a form of escape. So don't be worried about the doctor increasing your dose. Wish you luck, and hope that you feel good soon.

Hi Emily,  You don't have to worry if the Doc increases your dose, as 20mg is a very small dose, the side effects in the increase will probably last a couple of days if at all.  So don't worry, I take 20mg, but I was on 40mg for a long time.  x
