I might have hsv2, very depressing

Hi,

Thank you for being here. 6 days ago, I noticed 2 small ulcers forming at the right base of my penis shaft. No blisters, no pus, no oozing. These ulcers became a bit raised and just a bit larger within the next day (the were about the size of a dull pencil tip). I have had no associated symptoms and the ulcers were painless. I am really devasted. I had protected sex with a girl I just met and 12-14 days later this happens.

I guess my question is, what are your experiences with genital herpes and does this sound similar? I can touch the ulcers with no pain at all. The ulcers have shrunk now and are almost gone. They began shrinking almost right away but I kept masterbating with them (covered with condom) and washing them with soap. I believe this prolonged the healing process because right when I stopped this (day 4), they began shrinking and are now just a red dot.

Yesterday, I believe I began to feel some soreness on my right thigh only. Do paresthesias occur bilaterally normally?

Thank you again

If it's not too late got the your doctor and have them do a culture test

Would always advice to go and get checked out, whether it be your GP or STD clinic. Maybe something or nothing, but from my own experience, I made my situation worse by worrying and delaying getting a proper diagnosis, as helpful people on this site have said the quicker you catch it, the easier it can be to treat. Best of luck.

Well you sound like you had a very mild ob. You sound very sure of it being herpes, what made you so confident on that? I mean I knew it was immediately, I didn't need a doc to tell me, even w it not looking like the pictures you see online.

Was this area covered w a condom during sex? I know condoms roll up quite a bit. Condoms provide 30% protection only from herpes.

I've heard other people not having much pain either, but that's only been men .not females.. I have had paresthesias on both sides or one side, but usually both. Friends I have said that one leg gets it befire, during and after an ob for them.

So sorry that you became a member of the H club. None of us wanted it, but we can't change it. It doesn't sound like you'll have much bother w it, as your immune system seems to have very good control of it.

Your sores actually cleared up quickly , especially w a first outbreak.. Washing them doesn't prolong it, it was good you kept them clean. As long as the virus is present, sores will still around, regardless what you do.

Thank you. I believe the condom was covering the whole penis. The paresthesia didn't start until yesterday and is now gone. I felt it only in the area where the lining of my underwear is and I really only feel it if I touched the area.

I feel like washing the area just aggravated it and opened it up. The two ulcers began to clear as the day after taking a dose of Azithromycin antibiotic, so this is the only hope I have that this is bacterial.

I get blood results back today or tomorrow. can this test be positive for just regular cold sores I got as a child?

Yeah, unfortunately the base of the penis is not covered by the condom. However, I can tell you that previously it was thought that you had obs where skin touched infected skin, but this isn't always the case. Once it gets in, it can start replicating any where. I never had anal sex, yet they showed up there!

Well you said you only had sex, so I'll assume no oral sex was involved. Did they not swab the sores? For a new infection, if the sores are fresh, a swab is the beat way if you a kr easy have HSV 1 orally, as it cannot show location of infection. HSV 1 can be transmitted from oral to genitals, but is not as likely to transmit from genital to genital.

Also blood tests are not good for a new infection, because it takes at least 30 days for antibodies to build up in your system. If they test you for a quick reaction DNA test, which looks for DNA rather than antibodies, that is fine for a new infection. My blood test came back negative a week after infection, but swab positive. 3 months later I tested again and it came back positive for antibodies that time.

The only other thing that creates sores on the genitals is penile cancer, cankoid disease, which we don't have in developed countries and some autoimmune disease, forget the name of it. Not very common.

No, cleaning does not irritate genital sores, not cleaning them is bad and can make them worse due to infection.

BTW, did you contact that hussy and confront her?! I would! I confronted the guy who lied to me about his status. Of course he denied away and then told me to never contact him again ( major sign of a liar and that he knew) . just typing it makes me angry.

Yes, well I asked if she ever had an STD and she said no and then a couple days later I asked her again if she was 100% sure she never had an STD and then she blocked my number. But I know where she lives so I'm thinking about going there and knocking on her door.

Sounds like she knew.. That's exactly what people do who are lying. If they didn't know, their reactions would be shock and worried, that they may have something and will be eager to hear your results and get tested themselves. Liars do what my guy did and that girl did. Just not a normal reaction to hearing news like that.
