Hi guys, I recently posted a thread about feeling off balanced, like I am on a boat. I also have jelly legs. I think it's caused by muscle tension/anxiety because my doctor can't find anything wrong, however, these symptoms are very real and disabling. I work in a physically demanding job and am going back to work tomorrow as I have taken off 3 days + the 4 days I had off in between. I am still feeling very much off balanced, with certain movements I feel very light headed and the tension is bad. I've tried stretching, but now my neck is sore/burning, my lower back feels weird and it made my jelly legs much worse. I have to work on my feet for 5+ hours which I am so nervous about because I don't think I can do my job or stay at this job any longer as it is very taxing on my body and my condition. DOes anyone have any advice on what I can do for some kind of relief? I've tried yogo but I'm not sure it's working, hot showers, tea, nothing seems to work long term only a very short time. I feel so hopeless.

Hi Turae
your symptoms definitely sound like anxiety symptoms. I have had those many times. I had complete exhaustion my legs were weak my arms were weak., as well as many other symptoms. I went to neurologists, my family doctor, had all kinds of testing done and nothing was ever found. However I always recommend just following up with your doctor just to check things out then when your test comes out normal you can relax a little bit.
If you learn how to manage your anxiety symptoms, you will be able to control them better when they do pop up and lessen them or completely eliminate them.
I have been dealing with this for many years and I know exactly what you're talking about. literally millions and millions of people have the symptoms and anxiety is the number one reason people speak with counselors.
I would like to share with you what has helped me over the years:
One thing I would like to emphasize is that when you get a negative or scary thought, acknowledge it, then watch it float away on a dark cloud or something like that. Don't try to fight it off because that will increase your anxiety .......
.
1. what I did was first of all speak with a counselor. They see this on a daily basis and have the tools to help you manage this. Anxiety and stress is difficult to manage on our own and it really helps to talk to someone else. I keep going even when I start to feel better because it's like a lifeline for me. Find a counselor you feel comfortable with. Remember....FEAR stands for false evidence appearing real. Which means sometimes when we have symptoms we think they are related to some terrifying disease, when in reality the odds are much higher that they are not. Our minds will go to the negative if we let it, so we must be in control.
Don't let fear take you over! Be a fighter for yourself!
2. Secondly, I go to Google or YouTube and look up meditative audios on anxiety or negativity. I put in my earbuds and lie down and listen to them. They completely calm down my brain and body to the point where I almost feel like I'm floating. This is such a great thing to do for your brain and overall health. I do this a couple times a day specially when I'm laying down to sleep. There are many to choose from just pick the ones that you like. There's also positive affirmation ones that are helpful too.
it will just calm everything down when you are having an acute anxiety attack
3. Stay active! The worst thing you can do is sit around and think too much about all this. It will bring on more anxiety. As well as the symptoms. When I exercise my body completely calms down and the symptoms often go completely away.
another thing I do a lot is go on walks with my earbuds in and I play positive self affirmations you find on YouTube. I sit by some nature and just completely relax my entire body
3. Stay social! This helps keep your mind off your worries. The less you are alone the better at least until you manage your anxiety. Just do things that you enjoy.
4. When feeling anxious or anytime you'd like, do deep breathing. Breathing through your nose for about five seconds and make sure your stomach rises. Then exhale through your lips as though you're blowing out a candle slowly for another five seconds. Do this as many times a day as you need to. It helps if you're lying down but you can also do it's sitting.
5. Eat healthy! Stay away from processed foods especially sugar. Sugar has an inflammatory response including in the brain. This will just increase your anxiety and can possibly bring on depression.
You are not going to die! As horrible as anxiety symptoms FEEL, THEY CANNOT kill you! I have had them for many many years on and off and now I pretty much ignore them but I do try to stay as healthy as possible and do those five things I listed above. The meditation audios really are excellent please try them and do them often !
Don't get frustrated when your symptoms try to creep up again that's normal. But you have to be determined to ward them off by doing these things I listed. I think the greatest help will come from counseling and the meditation audio from YouTube.
You will be fine once you get this under a little control. You will have a long great life and you deserve peace and happiness.
I hope this helped you a little bit at least.

I have been unable to get a stand up job for over 20 yrs. Between anxiety and depression and physical issues that doctors cant really figure out I learned real quick to get a sit down job. I struggle every day to get up and finish the day, I literally live for weekends and not to have fun but to give my body a break. Cant be homeless so you have to find something that you can struggle through.. you are not alone.
