Has anyone else put weight on while being on citalopram? I’ve put on 3 stone sad

    Go on the keto diet ..I lost 15pounds in one month..celexa made me gain some weight not it's coming off with the keto diet..

    Hi Kellie, I’ve put on 4 stone in the 2 years I’ve been on Citalopram. This also happened to me in my twenties on another ssri. However I could do more to try and address this issue, the problem I find is motivation. The drug certainly helps my anxiety but it also numbs many other feelings which makes motivation difficult. For me crash diets don’t work and it really is all about changing behaviour, so for what it’s worth ( I’m not a great example) introducing exercise and small changes to diet is possibly the way forward.

      Diet help me...and yes it's the meds causing you to craved lots of carbs..and starchy foods ..so the answer is a diet will help....

      Thank you, I was seriously thinking of trying to come off the meds cause I’m naturally skinny  but not sure I could. I’ve been on them ages now

      Yes I gain twenty pounds on celexa..just recently lost 15..I got five more to go..I just basically cut rice.bread.pasta. sugar..no process foods...

    i also when i started this medication ,i put on weight ,but gradually after being on medication for some time,i started to lose weight
