I think I have something wrong with my brain?

I'm seriously beggining to think there is something wrong with my brain and it's getting worse.

I'm 17 and I physically can't do any sort of work. Sounds very silly, but every time I sit down to start typing, nothing comes out of my brain, like my brain shuts down.

It all started about 2 years ago, I was a good student at school, and was targeted for high grades, generally good kid. I started getting really easily irratated and distracted. Then at the beggining of year 11 and I just couldn't work and began to hate school, it's like I hit a wall every time I try to use my brain. I managed to scrape my exams thanks to coursework from previous years. I started sixth form and had the same problem, I stayed 4 weeks and then left because my teachers were asking for work and i was trying to explain to them and family members that nothing would come out, they all just thought I was lazy. I then decided that maybe an apprenticeship with my father may be better for me, I flew past all my physical exams but as soon as I had work to do again I hit a brick wall, and now again I've had to leave because I'm way behind. And it's getting worse because over the last 4 months I also have major problems with imagination and thinking on the spot, I can't make pictures in my head or create stories or think up a scene to draw on paper, I can only copy. I noticed it's affecting speaking now as, I'm blanking words and can't get them out of my head, people have to finish the sentence or fill in the word for me and I'm stuttering. I went to a job interview and they asked questions like what would I do in a situation or previous experience and i tried to speak but hit a wall; I just stared at them and smiled because I can't imagine or think up stuff, I also have a bad memory. I don't know if this is related but I get dizzy a lot and have this feeling of being drunk, I don't know what to do because everyone around me thinks im putting it on.

Blood tests for iron including binding capacity and CBC/FBC should be done first. Do you have other physical symptoms besides dizziness and feeling like you are drunk?

Sounds more like anxiety but some physical issues would need to be excluded first. Have you consulted a doctor yet?

Did any viral illness coincide with the onset of these symptoms 2 years ago. Any major trauma or family stress, major life-changes like death or illness in the family, birth of a sibling, divorce, friend moving away, pet dying, anything you can think of.

Your writing is nice and articulate when describing your condition so I would not be too worried about something being wrong with your brain. You are tense and afraid and brain capacity is thus reduced.

Your write is clear coherent and well written. I think you are capable of attaining any goal. What is possibly required is a determination on your part to effectively tackle your problems to produce results. Some how i feel you are perfectly alright.

However you may like to consultĀ  Psycho Specialist to satisfy your self. I wish you good luck.

Sounds like extreme anxiety. You have attained high grades in the past and those around you are expecting more great things from you. Are you being pushed in a direction that you dont really want?  Like being forced into a type of job you dont really fancy? or just a general lifestyle that doesnt appeal. Do you think your parents will be disappointed if you dont do well?

Try to take some quiet moments to yourself and try to write down what you would really like to do...dont take any notice of what others are telling you.  You are very coherent in your writing so dont worry your brain is giving up.

17 is a time in your life when a lot of teenagers suffer stress and anxiety, its a time when you have to decide where you would like your life to go. This often causes stuttering, which is not permanent as you become calmer and more focussed. If you are in UK then do visit your GP. you dont need a parent with you or need their permission. It will be totally confidential

At interviews take your time, and take some deep breaths beforehand, but most of all make sure its a job you want and not something you are being pushed into.

All this will pass as you get older,I'm quite sure.
