I've been depressed for 2 years, what should I do?

I've been feeling sad and bad for about two years. It was not constant feeling through this time but mainly I've been feeling really sad and depressed.

I can't find any simple reason of that bad fettle.

Hi, I am sorry your feeling this way. Your first step would be to visit the GP there are lots of treatments such as medication, therapies and counselling to try. We cannot always know why we feel depressed. It could be underlying issues that haven't been dealt with, even from a long time ago. So please don't hesitate to see the GP, the sooner the better before it gets worse.

    Elizabeth.

Hi uuu depression is a horrible illness but it can be treated. I agree with Elizabeth please see your GP asap. Certain physical conditions liver, kidney, thyroid can be triggers which need to be ruled out first. If you want to talk now to someone Lifeline is available 24/7 and is staffed by trained councellors.0808 808 8000 calls are free.

    Kind regards

Hello.  What have you done so far about these feelings?  Have you been diagnosed by a doctor?  No often there is no obvious reason for feeling low, it can just come out of the blue.  That is what makes it so difficult to accept.

You ask what should you do.  My advice is if you have not already seen a doctor, then do so. But I expect you have done this as you know you have depression?  Did you get any help?  Medication or counselling?  If not, they could well help you.  It is a very difficult illness to live with, but if you can get some relief, that will help.  Let us know more about how you are coping.  I know it is difficult if you are working.  Hopefully you have seen a doctor.

2 years is a long time to have been suffering alone. If you havent seen a doctor or specialist you need to get there soon ?

It maybe that you just need some counseling, or maybe more but the gp will ask the right question and diagnose the best route for you
