I've been on sertaline for 3 weeks. Ive been told I have depression by doctors but they now thing I may be bipolar 2 due to a slight manic episode. I'm now on these tablets but feel completely emotionless towards my girlfriend and family. Any advice wether to stick it out or change?

Thank you

Depression is a very lonely place to be no matter how many loved ones are around you......from my experience what ever medication you're prescribed it takes a good few weeks before you start to feel on the mend... Hang on in there x

I'm 50 and first experience of depression was in my 30s and have what they call situational depression but I have learnt to read the tell tale signs and get it dealt with.... It's amazing the feeling you get when one day you remember how life used to be.... Trust me.... Also walking helps I discovered streets in my home town I didn't know existed x

I've been on Sertraline for 5 weeks for depression and anxiety and I feel numb at times and I guess emotionless is the same thing. I spoke to my GP about this and he said a lot of patients describe this feeling taking Sertraline and is the start of them beginning to kick in. See how it goes as its apparently very early days after just a matter of weeks. Take care!
