I've had a break out for over a week now and I want to know if I have to go to dr or no?

Just wondering if I have to go to the Dr for genital herpes or is there a way I can take some natural remedies at home or if the herpes will cure itself over time. Or if going to the Dr and getting medicine is an absolute must for genital herpes?

You should definitely schedule an appointment with your gyn or PCP. There is no cure for GH. I would definitely start educating yourself more so you can understand HSV1 and HSV2.

Not looking for a cure. Just wondering if the symptoms and pain will go away on it's own over time. Low on money that's why I'm asking

You don't need the meds to heal, so you can skip them. However, it's good to know which HSV type you have. It's probably too late to swab now, but you should do an IgG antibody test for both HSV types at 3+ months, if you can. Also, you may wish to test for other STDs, since you contracted HSV, but that is another matter. I agree that OTC acyclovir cream for cold sores is cheap and helps with healing.

I would go to the doctor. Better to get checked and get some antivirals. They'll help!
