Ive been on Hrt for ten years, I'm 63. In the early days I was on Femseven Conti patches and felt very well, then suddenly the patches were discontinued. I was given Evorel Conti patches by my Gp and although they stopped the night sweats and joint pain, they also caused some unpleasant side-effects like breast pain and water retention. Nevertheless I continued with Evorel Conti until around nine months ago when I slowly started to suffer with extreme joint pain, dry, itchy skin and excema on my legs and vaginal dryness.
I discussed my symptoms with my Gp who took a blood test which resulted in my hormone levels being quite low, she thought that I had stopped absorbing the patches. She suggested that I try Oestrogel and Progesterone capsules for three months, as the Gel can be adjusted depending on severity of symptoms but sadly I was unable to tolerate the Progesterone neither orally nor vaginally, this was very disappointing.
I had recently heard that Femseven Conti patches had become available again so I decided to give them another try but unfortunately my symptoms did not improve, in fact they got worse so I really don't know where to go from here? Has anyone had the same problem with the Conti patches after years of doing very well, and what if any, HRT regime did they find worked for them?
