I want to come off citalapram but don't know if I can?

After being on ssri's for 27 years I am not sure if it is the drug or M.E. causin my cognitive impairment and vice-like feeling around my brain. My perception is wonky and I am scared of it getting worse as I age still taking the drug. I am 54 years of age and do not want to deteriorate any further. I have tried so many times to come off them and find I can't function, my brain shuts down and yet if they are the cause of my symptoms then I need to come off them. In an ideal world I would go into rehab and get help but when you need to work it is impossible to go through the period of dysfunction which could be a long term thing. Has anyone been on this drug for as ong as me and have you found you suffer these long term side-effects and can,t come off them? I have been on a number of ssri's...at the moment I am on citalopram 40mg

I can't find any legitimate studies that show cognitive deterioration especially starting after 27 years of being on this medication.

I have seen studies on the net but one never knows what to believe. I have an appointment with the M.E. specialist so I will let you know what they say about my symptoms
