I was on Citalopram and without realising my medication was changed to 15mg mirtazapine.

I am horrified and more depressed with my weight gain.Only just realised what is causing the weight gain. This is worse than the reason I am on AD's. I want to wean myself off it. Has anybody any experience of just taking 1 every other night and gradually coming off it? What side effects do I look out for. I am a diabetic, and have even asked my nurse to see a dietician? It's not my diet, it's Mirtazapine??

My biggest problem comeing off it is my tummy pain gets worse as I come down.Im just hopeing that will level out a bit but my Gp said it won't.So god help me when I'm totally of it. Also my temper is really bad my poor husband can't understand what's happened to me . Are you totally of it Rose and if so how do you feel.Thank you for asking it's nice to have this forum to have a rant on. Take Care

    Hi to all,

I should be off next week if all goes well. I did have a set back with the bladder infection and then, a cold I guess.

so things are going pretty good.

i think mirt can cause Irritable bowel because I had many times with tummy troubles .

dont worry Norma, you'll be able to get off. Just keep reducing at your own speed.

hope you have a good day and evening. I'm glad you have a husband, and although your temper might be up, I'm sure he realizes that it's the medication.

    good health....
