Last July I went dairy free for my breastfed baby who is dairy & soy intolerant. 8 weeks after that her symptoms still didnt clear so I also cut out soy and every since I changed my diet my stools have been loose frequently. It got better for a bit and now im back at square one... I took a great probiotic that helped but had to get off because it contained soy. I can always tell when ill have a loose stool, i get bad stomach cramps then bam running to the toilet. afterwards i just feel like crud.
can a major diet change cause this? im starting to worry something is wrong. I cant remember ever having problems like these before

Hi chreaux, oh dear i think you better see your doctor because any change in bowel habits should be reported through to your doctor then see someone. Changing diet could have done it
How old are you? IBS is often detected past 30. See your doctor though, your body will maybe suffer more than you think
You may have essential nutrients missing in your diet which can make you ill. Good luck, hope you do OK and find out what you need.

I also read that IBS is most often detected in your teens which is when my brother got diagnosed with it. It is rarer to get IBS in your 30s and beyond this. I was 42 when I got it which is in the rarer bracket. My brother only needed a calprotectin test but had no other tests before diagnosis. I needed far more tests because no one could diagnose me and my IBS was later onset.

i had no tests-i suffered for a few years and learned myself which foods and drink would trigger my ibs. when i got an iphone i downloaded a medical help app and it was via that i discovered ibs and then went to my gp to say i think this is what i have and he just went with that because of my symptoms. i also have fibromyalgia and hypermobility which also comes in hand with ibs 😦

As i was diagnosed 12 years back, rules may have changed.

Costochondritis can also go along with IBS. I first had it a few years back and I am having another flare up at the moment.

I agree with sam here I think it warrants a trip to GP.
Take care and keep in touch

Diet change can cause bowel habit change. My stools always change when I go abroad because I eat differently from what I do at home. I end up having to eat huge amounts of fruit to counter the constipation which results from my diet change. I find I don't need as much fruit at home to keep my bowel moving. Do not worry!

I'm 27
I saw my GP, had an ultrasound done that came back normal. That was for the firat flare up right after diet change. Probiotics helped a ton but those have soy so i cant take them at the moment.
now i havent went to the bathroom since friday night.. no pain at the moment though. I will make another appt with my GP soon though if this continues
thank you!
