IBS c and d...need help

Hello my name is Jennifer, I have written on the site many times and always find good advice and comfort. I am 50 and in Perimenopause. My IBS has gotten worse because of it. I was diagnosed 12 years ago with it. I am wondering if anyone experiences a lot of gas and bloating? but most of all if anyone feels a tightness or an ache or stitch around there mid back and raps around to the ribs. They feel sore and achey. Also sensative to touch down on both sides of my belly button and lower back also. I have had three colonoscopies, two endoscopies, biopsy of colon tissue, pelvic sonogram, vaginal sonogram and internal exams from gyno. All Normal! Just want to see if I am crazy, or if other people have experienced this. I was given Vicodin for the pain on bad days. Could the Vicodin be causing worse gas and bloating because it slows down your intestines?

Hi, Jennifer,
The vicodin could be making you more constipated. Having something for the pain is good, but not knowing what is going on isn't. It sounds as though you might have gallstones or a diseased gallbladder. I suggest you get a referral to a gastroenterologist.
An ultrasound might show if you have larger gallstones, but they don't always pick up small stones and sludge. A CT scan might. You also need blood tests to determine your liver and pancreatic functions. A HIDA scan to detect how much bile your gallbladder is releasing could also be performed.
If you have gallstones and a diseased gallbladder it wll affect all the associated organs, stomach, small and large intestines, liver and pancreas. Some people experience pain, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, but not everyone.
A gastroenterologist would be better able to diagnose and treat you.
Best of luck, and please let me know how you get on!

Sorry to learn you're suffering with this, and thanks for letting me know. There are a couple of syndromes out there, median arctuate ligament, for one. You might want to research.
Take care!

Hi Jennifer,
My mother in law always read side effects of the medication and if there is a word " can upset the stomach " she never takes it.
She has got IBS for 40 years now. Your symptoms are very much like hers.
Blessings

I get cramps in my lower intestinal track ( if you know what I mean) it rhymes with Uranus. My period has been over for more than a week and I am still having gut cramps & vaginal cramps. There is also a "pull down" cramp feeling.
I go between being very constipated and diarrhea.
I have Fibromyalgia so I have back and rib pain a lot.
