Ignorant doctors

At last after ignorant doctors claiming fibromyalgia is all in a person's head and not a real illness I was finally diagnosed as having fibro by a rheumatologist yesterday, now maybe they can give me the help I need. Now I have a reason for the pain and tiredness and everything else.

I know how you feel, I had one in particular who was very rude, I think by the end of the consult he knew what I was thinking because he suddenly back peddled. It is bitter sweet experience being diagnosed because you are relieved to know why you are feeling as you do,but saddened that you are now officially diagnosed as having a syndrome. The good aspect is that hopefully they can help relieve your symptoms.

This forum is wonderful, as you get so much support, help and wise advice.

    Hi Lisa

Totally agree with ignorance of doctors and how they make you feel that it's all in the mind.  Now that you have the diagnosis you can move forward and try to deal with it.  This forum and the people on here are fantastic for support and advice.

Keep us posted with your progress.

Gentle hugs to you and have a good day. wink x

Sounds about right. My consultant diagnosed me, wrote fibromyalgia on a piece of paper and told me to go away and research it and that they did not treat patients with fibro so would be referred back to GP. Nice eh!

Wow so it's not just my doctor, I've struggled with my symptoms for years and my doctor fobbed me off with the diagnosis of hypercondriac 😏. I wish u all well with ur symptoms and battles and hope that one day all doctors r made to see this illness for what it is. Hugs xxx

    Dear Lisa,

You're sooo right! But, you know what? F.. them. Fortunatly there are doctors that know too well that it's not so. I'll PM you a link and you're even going to have a laugh. In the end the author is questioned if fibro patients should also seek help from psychoanalists or psychotherapists and he says:

" As long as it's one word. If it's two words (psycho analist/ psycho therapist) NOP!" cheesygrin
