I was looking through the comments and this is the first I have come across (I started from the newest comments and worked upwards...)which mentions the pain in the arms and back. I too suffer such pains and initially thought I was having heart problems. I also seem to suffer from neck aches and dizzy spells, which whilst not severe, are very uncomfortable. After a visit to both a heart specialist and a stomach specialist with a an endoscope session, I have been diagnosed with this reflux acid problem and am now on a course of tablets. Smoking 30 cigarettes a day does not seem to help the problem and I have since stopped smoking which seems to have eased the occurance of the build up off internal gas. Doctors (all three of them) blame stress (work related) and smoking for my condition.

Hello fellow sufferer. I am a 35/M with severe acid reflux. I've had this problem for some time now and every time it gets bad I want to take myself to the E.R for fear of a heartattack: being a 13 yr. veteran of Panic Disorder doesn't help the cause any either. I don't know whether I am dying or going mad when reflux becomes unbearable but after reading some sites tonight it's good to know I'm not alone. I think I'll try some of the suggestions like not eating after 7:00 or so and also avoiding coffee, black tea, alcohol(this one was going to be hard until I found myself on my knees in pain one night): and I thought it was relaxing me (hmmm). Fried foods, tomatoes, and citrus fruits gotta go as well. Well, I'm gonna give it a try, maybe you should too, it couldn't hurt. Good Luck and lemme know if you find anything new. Thnx and God bless.:ok:

age 35 same here i find not eating late helps also

alcohol is ok in moderation but again not too late at night

a measure of gaviscon before bed helps

i think a lot of it will be trial and error for instance i can drink pepsi but coke will bring an attack on in minutes

blander foods seem to be safest avoid fatty foods and anything acidic

all the best let me know if you discover anything that helps:D

Hi, I'm a 28 year old female who is sick and tired of going to the docs, it seems sometimes like they don't have a clue. It all started when I took a pain in my chest and then my whole left side of my body went numb. Feeling came back in about a minute but it left me very weak. Went to the docs and got catscans to rule out a stroke, have had heart scans and an mri and nearly every blood test I can think off. Eventually they decided I had Migraine aura were I don't actually get a headache but get the side effects of numbness and dizzness and blurred vision, etc. (it can be scarry) I also was getting a very sore chest and having trouble swallowing and breathing , which resulted in panic attacks,my chest was always inflammed which i couldn't understand and i was put on ibuprofen which wasn't good for my stomach! so now i take evening primrose oil which helps a bit but the inflamation is still there and thats from nearly 3 years ago. Tests were eventually done to show I had acid reflux as well and i am now on protium tablets. Maybe this has been the cause of my inflammed chest all along. I'm glad i found this site and know that I'm not the only one.
