In a state of confusion and panic and wondering about symptoms

Two weeks ago I received unprotected oral sex from a questionable partner and am now afraid i may have contracted HSV. I've noticed a slight pain in my urethra and a slight burning sensation in my genital area. I went to the STI clinic and hospital; each time they inspect me and take a urine test, which comes out negative for gonorhea and chlamydia and send me packing. I wanted to know what the symptoms are really like for this condition and how they show up. Do the sores develop gradually? or do they sprout up out of nowhere? I also noticed what may be a bump forming on the tip of my penis and this has got me stressing even more so. Each time i ask the nurse she tells me that it's too soon for me to be tested for HSV and tells me i should wait until 8 weeks, but the stress alone seems like it's going to drive me insane. I've tried talking to friends for comfort, but they can't seem to understand or relate to what im currently going through. Can someone please help with my issue?

That's just it with herpes ,it can be very frustrating to have DX. If you had a sore then it could be cultured. Why don't they insert a swab into uretra and attemp a culture that way? It looks like your signs and symptoms are not severe enough to DX you at this time with herpes. I had same problem, so the doctor did blood test for herpes. The result was I have antibodies from herpes 1&2 from past exposure, but negative for recent exposure. I've never experience any past signs or symptoms for herpes, but two weeks ago I had sex(blowjob) and after 3 days developed what looked like a rash on upper top shaft of penis that developed into a 1.5 inch wide sore with barely any pain or drainage. There was a scab that looked like from a cold sore, but the minute water touch it the scab disenagrated and fell off. Just today my sore is almost all gone . I never had any sores or burning in my urethral!

If a swab cannot be done then you have to wait 3-6 months for a blood test, because it takes that much time for your body to produce antibodies to DX with herpes. I tried sharing a link explaining all of this, but the moderator deletes it every time stating it's not related to herpes??????

Why did you not wear a condom??? There are so many STD out there that it's pathetic! Herpes alone is enough to make a person go insane. I know it's hard, because when the sex hormones take over most of the blood from the brain goes down there and your ass cannot think, but only feel. I should of worn a condom too, but when I do , can't ejaculate.

i was incredibly drunk at the time and I've regret it every day since then... to the point that I've quit drinking altogether. All everybody tells me is that it's really hard to contract something through oral. I'm sick of everyone being so passive around me. My main question is do the sores form overnight? or do they slowly develop over the course of a few days?

They slowly developed after 3-10 days like a rash with red spots then progress into a sores like an ulcer and then form a scab. They can form into clusters.

Apparently its not hard to contract herpes orally. If your sex partner is virally shedding just skin contact is all it takes. Most people don't have any signs or symptoms or know they have herpes.

Hey Who, im a female but i have hsv1 genitally so contacted it from oral sex, some of the symptoms for myself were bumps but not exactly what youd see on google images for herpes.. theyre not exactly that asthetically obvious apart from red bumps. I had raised glands in the genital area at first encounter with the virus, got flu like symptoms and it was irritable and itchy- those last two symptoms are continuous with most/all outbreaks.

Perhaps you got a urinary infection? if her mouth was really dirty.. but a pee test would have picked that up.

Sometimes you have to ask clinics specifically what you want them to look for, they dont always test for everything unless you specifiy.

Also im not sure what the regulations are for testing hsv, but I went to the doctors two weeks after the incident and got a swab test and it came back positive so I think if you are feeling something different, you should tell them to test you anyway, if not for anything else, at least for your peace of mind and then again in 8 weeks to verify. I know that for some virus' it does take time for antibodies to shop up but thats with a blood test.

If you get a direct swab test when you feel the irritation it should be able to tell you immediately.

Im not a professional of any kind so the only advice I can give you, is try to relax and research as much as you can about hsv. Stress can be a big factor to offset a hsv outbreak.
