Increased anxiety week before period due?

Posted , 4 users are following.

I've been on citalopram for about 8 weeks and I've been feeling really good for th lasst two weeks, but suddenly this morning I feel extra anxious. The same thing happened last month right before my period, does anyone else experience this?

    Hi

Yes. I am on week 5 and i am due in few days. I am crying every hour for no bloody reason and feel anxiety like crazy. I have this pulling pains in my lower abdomen and hoping for period to come before i go crazy.

Yes even after being on it, 14 years I still get a bit funny before my period is due and first few days. Not always but more often then not x

What drove me mad was when I said this when I first went on citalopram, the doctor and psychiatrist both said nothing and said they didn’t know anything about it. Most people I know do find this though x

So frustrating it definitely isn't as bad as my anxiety was last period when I was only 4 weeks on citalopram. How many months did it take you to feel the full effects of the medicine?

This is the second time your on meds too right? Last time about 6 months to a year this time as I’ve only been off for four months hopefully sooner. But my period is always a little bit difficult I think it’s just the hormones x

I too get really anxious, heart racing, hot sweats, jittery mid cycle building up to when I get my period. It’s awful I don’t know if it’s my hormones or side effect of citalopram.

I think it must be the combination of hormones and meds. I think your period dips your serotonin levels as some people crave chocolate to boost them up too.
