Increasing from 10 to 20mg

started on 10 mg Celexa 6 months ago. I was supposed to increase to 20 mg after a month but I thought I was doing ok. A lots has happened in the past 2 months, and I am up to 20mg from today. Anyone know how long this increase is going to take to feel better or in a similar situation. Didn't enjoy the start up, so hoping the increase brings only good.

Wondering if I shouldn't go to 15 mg first. Has anyone tried that?

That would not be a bad thing to do if you are able.  These drugs increase neurotransmitters by blocking receptors.  When you first take it, your system is actually unbalanced, causing the side effects.  Your system regains balance but INCREASING the number of receptors, which I think is when the side effects go away.  So, each time you increase, you are creating another imbalance to which the body must respond by increasing receptor numbers to regain balance.  Therefore, smaller increases will lead to smaller imbalance, less adjustment needed, fewer side effects.  i think this is a judicius way to proceed.  Seems the worst side effects are suffered by those whose doctors start them on a relatively high dose, and/or increase the dose before the body has adjusted to the prior dose (which can take a few weeks or more).

There is nothing wrong with proceeding more cautiously to improve your chances of comfort in the process.
