Hello,
I am looking for some advice as I was having major stomach issues about a month ago and was prescribed to take Prilosec by my GI doctor. I was suffering from severe belching/stomach gas pressure, loss of appetite, occasional nausea, and reflux. It felt like I was dealing with 24/7 gas pressure in my stomach which was very uncomfortable. I also was suffering from a dry cough that I just couldn't shake. I never experienced any scary symptoms but was also suffering from anxiety which did not help.
After taking it for almost a month, I can definitely say that Prilosec has helped a lot and helped me regain my appetite. The only issue I am still having is that I can not completely get rid of the cough and gas in my stomach. The symptoms have greatly improved and mainly affect me when my stomach it is empty. But there is still a small pressure I feel just under my esophagus that will never completely disappear and I still will belch. If I stick my tongue out it's creates a situation where I feel I should dry heave. It is not anything that seems really serious but just a constant annoyance.
I will admit, I have not been very adherent to a bland diet and was also dealing with anxiety which has not helped. I am just wondering if there are any remedies to help me get rid of the stomach gas completely as my GI doctor now seems to want me to take Zantac while I am looking to go off medication completely.
Could this be Gastritis or Indigestion? Should I switch to Zantac or try something else? Just looking for any helpful advice.

You will need to ask your doctor for an endoscopy to identify gastritis. If you have gastritis, you will have to be strict about a bland diet Part of gastritis treatment is to go on medications like Zantac. Listen to your doctor about this and take his advice because these medications will help to protect your stomach lining while it heals if you have gastritis. Milk can help neutalise acid, but I would also include antacid medication. Your doctor is the expert.
The cough you are experiencing could be from acid reflux. Taking antacids can help with this. My acid reflux is chronic and milk and antacid medication works for me.
