So sorry to hear Chris, I had a bit of one when I had my left foot operated on many years ago. I think if you keep on top of the antibiotics and hang on in there it should just take a few days to resolve.

Hi Chris , sorry you are having a hard time.  My operation was at a similar time, I am on day 17 today.  I was allowed to remove the light dressings yesterday and bath my feet for the first time, within  a few seconds one of the wounds started bleeding and I had to re dress and elevate, bleeding stopped but still quite scary experience.  I will be taking it easy and now re washing for a good few days.  I think both our experiences show that its early days and the recovery from this operation is long and not straightforward !

Sorry to hear this. Unfortunately. I understand that I fe toons are a fairly common potential side effect of all surgery and in particular foot surgery. I am sure that with the antibiotics all will be well. You have had a number of different procedures do dos I guess that this increases the risk. As other people have said. It is early days. Try to keep positive and sure that all will be well. Good luck

    Hi Christ,

So sorry to know that your state of infection from your description. I did experience once about a year ago. That was due to my fault. I thought it was ok for me to do a bit of gardening as I felt so bored staying inside the house for 3 weeks after had scarf osteotomy with 3 screws inside.

When I went back to hospital the medical doctor was so shocked to see bit of white flash from an open stitches at the incision area. I was so nervous as I did not know the impact at that time. The doctor then gave a stronger antibiotic and some cream to me. It heal after a few weeks with a bigger scar.

That was really a lesson to me.

I had an infection the first week after surgery.  Nine days on Cipro and Bactrim cleared it right up.  But then I had a reaction to Bactrim and had to be on Prednisone for 3 days and had an adverse reaction to that.  But the infection was cleared up and didn't come back. My foot was very red and swollen and painful.  But when the infection cleared up the pain subsided tremendously.
