    Hi Janet

Does your Doctor have access to the professional section of this website, my doctor

prints stuff off it all the time about various ailments and what they are etc to give to patients.!

So if you telephone your doctors and ask them if they use this website you can make an appointment so your doctor can print off the details about fibro, or you can print the info off here that we can access!

A lot of doctors tell patients to look at this website!!wink

    I hope this helps?!

the american college of rhematolgy published critera for diagnosis of fibro in 1990 thus establishing it as an official illness ,

you could try putting in AMERICAN COLLEGE of rhematolgy and search for articles on [FMS]

OR JUST PUT A SEARCH IN FOR INFO ON FIBRO AND USE THEM .

iv found and read many other the years.

Hi you can get information on FM from the arthritis organisation or you can get the information from this site. I'm currently waiting for my ESA assessment and don't know what to expect when I do get it, but the arthritis organisation does have a booklet on it. Hope this helps and i hope you get your reconsideration.

      hi there Melanieb,

      When is your assessment? if you have not had it yet please follow these simple rule;

contact them now and request the assessment be recorded.  this is so yo have a copy of what was said and by who.  this stops them reporting lies on their report.

take someone with you, never go alone this counts aginst you.

be aware that you are being recorded from the moment you enter office block.

ask for travelling expenses form this stops them stating that you did not attend.

if you have to wait more than 20mins after your appointment time.  go to reception and ask what the hold up is and how long you may have to wait if more than 30 mins tell them you want to re arraange your appointment as you are in to much pain and distress you could not wait any longer.

finally keep your wits about you they will try anything to catch you out.

when taking part in the assessment and it comes tothe part where they will ask you to perform simple tasks such as bending to pick something off the floor, if youcant do it say so , so it can be picked up on the recording.  never do anything that could cause you any pain.

if i can help you any other way just let me know.

      gentle hugs

thank you this is good advice ,they do go out of there way to catch you out. so you have to be twice as cunning

i had a friend who went against my advice to go as if it was your worse day

had her hair done put make up on and went with a positive attidude ,all good things shes a lovely lady ,but because of this she didnt get the bennifit,

and she ahd a whole string of medical notes from specilists ,gp,and even her dentist , it was for another problem including double incontenice due a to a wrong drug given her which caused problems with her  liver . but because of her positive attidude she lost out. remember go as if its your worse day.

      hi there,

you are right the are very cunning.  you must go as if it is the worst day ever.  they wil try always to turn it round dont let them.  they kept asking me about going out to pay bill but all of mine are direct debit she would not give up until my daughter got involved.  they will ask about shopping tell them you get someone to do it on line for you. if you say you do the shopping they will take it that you can walk around shop without any problems handle money etc., it will count against you.  if there is a pause without anyone saying anything do not fill these silences as you may say something that they will use against you. another thing that is useful is if you get into the assessment room and the chair is without arms  wait till the recording starts and ask if the chair can be changed as you hav problems getting out of seats without arms to assist.  just silly little things count against you.

i know but a lot of us find it hard to make what we see as a fuss

we get so used to struggling around the house and finding away around stuff that we cant do , lets face it if we fitedt there critera for bennifit we all would be vegatables sitting in a chair.all day dribbling.

will make some notes from your post and add to mine and suppose practise them as well , i have aspergers syndrome as well so not making eye contact is a good one, and comes natraul
