Good Morning Arthur, Thank-you. No I am waiting till the 2nd of march, when my Right jippy hippie is done. I will be glad but also dreading it, as I suffer from acute anxiety, and also have my dear Hubby who is not in the best of health. But I am getting things organised now, as I dont want to come out of hospital & not have a nurse sorted out. That s what district nurses are paid to do. And they understand, that My Husband is severely sighted. Regards amandah

Hello Amanda, I can say that I was more than a bit concerned about injections but I had 2 days in hospital that i did them myself - the nurse will be there to show you where and how so you feel more confident but then I had to do them at home when I was discharged. Not sure how long you will have to do them, mine was longer than most I have read about on here but you just have to do it. That's not to say that there were a couple of 'moments' when I was a bit shakey but you tell yourself you have to get on with it (my wife is terrified of needles so no choice but to do it) The units I had were pre-loaded with 'Clexane' so its pretty simple procedure just remember that when you hold the roll of fat either side of you that you don't pinch too hard else you will bruise. I know its not sounding pleasent, be brave - soon over and you can move on.

      Best Regards

      Arthur

Hi there , thank-you, but I have asked the district nurses to come over, when I come out as I am scared together with my anxiety I have. They have said that fine. Then that way at least I am having them properly put in.I am scared of needles, even though they might be tiny, its just me. Best regards Amandah

If your talking about the stomach blood thinner shots, I thought I couldn't do it but it wasn't that bad!  Just jab a fat roll and push plunger. Tiny needle didn't even hurt. I think I had to do it for 12more days myself after the 3 hospital days.  I heard the pills were not that good for your system.  Good luck.

I had two injections while in hospital but they gave me dispersible aspirin when I went home, so if you are nervous about injecting yourself, ask if you can have tablets instead.  I was given enough tablets for 6 weeks.  Hope your bladder infection clears up soon.

Hi Amanda, Yes I am in the UK.  I live in Devon and had my op at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital who were marvellous.  No-one suggested to me that I inject myself, they just gave me the aspirin to take for 6 weeks.  Hope you get on ok.

Good Morning Koos , Thank-you for your reply.I have called the district nursing team & they are more than willing to come over & jab me like a pin cushion. But Its all down to the consultant!! The District nurses also can help me with those stockings. I am dreading this op as I am really bad with my nerves. Also My Hubby is disabled with OA of spine, hips & knees, & severely sighted & deaf. So I have a huge amount on my shoulders. !! Regards Amandah

Hi Mary, also a bit more muscle pain then before. I just getting really impatient now. Walk since week 3 without any aid and just do too much in the moment; walking on treadmill with steep incline, indoor spinning biking, elliptical and some resistent training just to get my fitness back. If it hurst too much then I take a day off. I have my first following up appointment in 3 weeks.

Wow! I am jealous! I am almost three weeks out, tomorrow (maybe today as I am getting antsy) will try two canes.... I had both hips replaced at the same tome, so do not have a "good" leg...razz  and my bones are less dense (osteopenia ) AND small-boned ... I always thought that was a good thing! But it also means the prosthesis takes up most of the bone shaft so I need to be patient and let the bone heal.  Other than that, I feel go, sleeping better so feel more rested.
