I am 3 weeks post op thr and progressing reasonably well with just the usual aches/difficulty sleeping etc like everyone else. Yesterday quite by chance I met an 80 year old lady who is 6 weeks post thr and she is amazing. Despite losing her husband a year ago her determination of spirit is incredible. She is walking completely unaided and you would never know she had been through a major operation at 80 years old. The only thing she moaned about was the sleeping on her back but now thankfully is on her side again.
She definitely inspired me to stay strong and continue to make progress. God bless her

It is nice to hear success stories, I hope your recovery is just as rapid and without any setbacks at all.

Hello Marilyn!
What great timing for you to have met this woman to give you a lift! I am 5 weeks post op from posterior total hip. At 3 weeks I was beginning to wonder if I was ever going to get stronger. Don't worry, be patient! I am now weaning off the cane and am getting stronger daily. Hang in there! You're almost there!

Yes The Duke of Edinburgh is a tough old bird. If I remember correctly the Queen Mother also had a hip replacement at quite an advanced age too and recovered well so there's hope for us young ones (I'm only 66) !!!

Your right pam it is nice to be called young occasionally, the district nurse came to remove my clips and said 'ooh a young one' I looked around to see who came in with her. I might think I am 18 in my head, but the body says 61.
