HRT and cancer. The evidence that HRT can cause some types of cancer (breast, womb and ovarian) is strong. It includes a study of one million women, run by Cancer Research UK scientists, which has shown that different types of HRT can increase the risk of different cancers.Jun 21, 2017

Hi Lee, You seem to be very passionate on the subject of HRT and I respect that. I was merely posting a news article. To clarify, I am not advocating either way on HRT. I believe is a personal decision.

Somebody very dear to me was on HRT for 6 months and was diagnosed with breast cancer. A double mastectomy was done. After implants were done, another diagnosis came. First it was inoperable brain cancer. Then it was cancer of the CNS. I am a nurse but had never heard of such a thing. I flew from Florida to Las Vegas 4 times in 4 months. It burned a very bad memory into my brain and broke my heart as well. What choices others make is their business. I'm sharing a life changing experience. She was 50.
I have never seen anything like this and I hope I never do.

Hi Lee, I am sorry for the loss of your loved one.I know someone who was recently diagnosed stage 4 breast cancer. Early 30s, with small children. It is hard to wrap our minds around these things.

Thanks for sharing Lou!
The impact of estrogen loss at our body is huge! HRT doesn't cause cancer. It promotes the growth of existing one. Using hrt under 50 is completely safe and after 50 the risks are tiny. Modern hrt is only replace the estrogen our ovaries don't produce.

Hi vicky! What I found interesting too is the FDA approved as a bio identical...which in the US would mean health insurance should cover...right now, people pay out of pocket and privately, if they want to go that route.
I personally am not ready for HRT at the moment at 41. I just started back up on BCP pills...same idea though!
I am just glad that there is some progress on the horizon. Menopause is being discussed. I read that 45 million women in the US alone are in menopause. Hopefully, one day we will not have to worry about the safety of a treatment we choose. Stay well!
