I just feel completly diconnected from everything and everyone i dont know if i will be able to cope another week like this. My mum says i should stop taking them immediately but i dont want to have put myself through this for nothing. Please any advice would be very welcome.

Hi Shaun, I am so sorry to hear you are still having such a rough time. My advice would be to go back to your GP immediately. Also find the 'crisis' number at your local hospital and give them a call. They should have a Psychiatrist on call that you can speak to who can advice you best. From my understanding stopping fluoxatine won't be as bad as some drugs, because they have such a long half life, meaning that they won't leave you system for a few days anyway. but you are right about possibly going through all this for nothing, as it doesn't sound like they have taken affect yet. which from what i've read, is also normal. Symptoms often get worse, and it can be a lot worse, before they get better. I went back to the GP after 1 week when I was having a few really bad days, going out of my mind completely. They explained why really well, and it helped to think that it was the medication doing this to me, and not me. it put it in perspective a little, and the next few days i was so much better, but i also got out and did things that made me feel good. go for a walk, had a massage, that sort of thing. Were your symptoms anxiety and suicidal thoughts before you started taking this? you are not disconnected to ppl on here, we are going through the same. it's good that you are speaking to your mum, is there anyone else as well? if you get close to crisis point you really should call that number. See if you can find it? It may just be the normal hospital number, and you might have to be asked to be directed to the Crisis team, or they may have a separate number completely. let me know when you find it???

Not quite at crisis point yet but ill definitely get the number if i get too bad. il go see my doctor aswell. i went back to work on monday after having a week off and its made me alot worse everyone at work has been acting extremely awkward round me so i know to them i must look strange if that makes any sense. i think thats made me feel a lot worse. i haven't been in contact with my mates due to the drug fueled lifestyle they all live so its been very tough. i really appreciate your post, it alone has made me feel abit better thank you.

Maybe another week off work then too if you can? Are the bosses supportive? I'm on my 2nd week of being off now, and may take longer until everything settles down. If it's not doing you any good, and actually making things worse, then (if you can), avoid it. just for now! speak to your gp about it, but obviously if there are added stresses of money etc then that might be hard. but the main thing to focus on right now is getting better, and for the few weeks whilst these really kick in, it's worth doing whatever works best. maybe find that number tho, just so you have it in case you do get close to crisis point. if you are at crisis point, you probably wont be able to find the number! Someone handed me the number and it's just been in my bag since, but i know it's there. pretty sure they are there to advise aswell as actually guide at the point of crisis, so if you just wanna talk thru some of the side effects with a professional, they might be good for that too? That's a shame about your friends, but sounds like you have made the sensible choice, just doesn't help with the feeling of being alone. would any of them accept your choice to not want to be around that at the moment and be supportive of you? that might help too. glad u r feeling a little better, ppl keep saying to me, small steps and soo the good days will outweigh the bad. just hang on in there

thanks ill get the number., did you say my local hospital would know if i ring up? ill wait and see Monday if im brave enough to go work if not im gonna have to explain to them everything because i said i had the flu last week. My pals are great and supportive but they sometimes end up doing more harm than good so i think i might just be a recluse for a few more weeks lol. i wish you the best as well, and hope you feel better.

yea, local hospital!! may have a separate number, or may put you through! sounds like it might be just as brave, if not more, to not go to work and tell them why!! but hopefully they will be supportive and that will help too. good luck

How are you getting on Shaun? Are you still on the meds? How are the side effects? Work? mine were increased to 40mg after not really seeing any benefits after 4 weeks, but now, another 2 weeks in, and I think i'm starting to feel a difference! Hope things have been looking a little more positive for you too?
