I came off the pill over two years ago now, before I went on the pill I had normal periods but since coming off my periods are coming every other month, my average menstrual cycle being 55days, my doctor thought I might have PCOS but the only symptom I have is difficulty in loosing weight, I really want to start trying for a baby but this problem is starting  I get me down, my doctor has told me that they can't begin help until I loose weight, but I have a lot of problems loosin weight I have very stomach problems which is suspected IBS I'm still currently doing elimination process of what makes me ill and what don't, and on top of that I get daily headaches. Is there anyone that has gone through something like this that could help me? I'm worried I won't be able to get pregnant and it's starting to effect me emotionally

If you have PCOS, you will most likely be insulin resistant. The best way to lose weight is give up sugar, alcohol and dairy. You could have stomach problems and headaches due to sugars in food. The diet advice they give you is a low GI diet. Get your hormones tested to see if you have PCOS, then get an ultrasound to look at your ovaries.

It is best to wait before trying for a baby if you do have PCOS, because your risk of miscarriage will be very high. You are often advised to go on metformin when you are pregnant because it lowers the risk.

Are you on any medications at the moment or herbal supplements?

I will book an appointment with my doctor and ask to have my hormones tested, hopefully they will agree.

I'm not on any medication, the only things I have is turmeric and milk thistle capsules as they help my stomach better then the medication the doctor gave me originally.  Is there any you recommend?

Starflower oil and oil of evening primrose are supposed to help with PMT. I take multi vitamins and minerals every day and everything I was deficient in has gone back to normal in blood tests. Vitamin b12 is very important and very good for Insulin resistance, I think someone told me it helps with weight issues. Also vitamin d and calcium are good if you don’t produce enough estrogen because you can run into trouble with your bones later on in life. When you ask for your blood test, see if they can add vitamin b12 and vitamin d on. Deficiencies in both of those vitamins can give you headaches, also you can get stomach problems from lack of vitamin d.

Thank you, that's really helpful, I'm going to stock up on my vitamins. I hope I can get this sorted  as it's really becoming a stress on my mind which then adds to the whole thing!
