Is 7.5mg more sedating than 15mg?

Hi there,

I've been taking 15mg Mirtazapine for about a month now to help with my anxiety issues, unfortunately i'm still suffering from anxiety nausea in the mornings, with occasional vomiting.

My GP thinks I need to give the medication more time. I've tried Mirtazapine before, and it's been incredibly sedating in the past and really helped with my nausea.

I've heard that the lower the dosage, the more sedating Mirtazapine is, I said about this to my doctor, and I asked if it would be possible to break my 15mg tablets in two. He said to me 15mg should be sedating enough.

I've heard that 7.5mg can be sedating too. Does anyone have any experience with 7.5mg?

Hi I’m actually reducing my mirtazapine to get off it and if you’ve been taking 15mg for a month be carful just halving it as there are withdrawals and really awful ones

I myself do think the lower the dose the more sedating it is

I also don’t think it’s helped me at all with my anxiety in fact I now have worse anxiety and heart palpitations trying to get off it

I have been on mirtazipine for about 3 months. 15 mgs. I had no intention of staying on it, I halved it on Saturday, had a couple of anxious nights, this is Wednesday, feeling good. I have found I don't sleep as soundly, & wake earlier, but that's ok with me.

Hi Robert yes I think it’s more sedating the lower the dose but it certainly hasn’t helped my anxiety

I’ve been on it for over 18months and since December 20th I have been tapering off it which is proving to be more difficult than I thought the withdrawals are brutal and if you have the option to be given something else I’d take it as mirtazapine is a horrible drug

It's helped my anxiety in the past, but now it's been rather difficult. I've been told to continue taking it for another 4 weeks and if there is no improvement then I might have to have an endoscopy to see if there is something wrong with my stomach.

Have you heard of Cytozyme? I hadn't, thankfully I was told to take it to protect the stomach. You can buy it in a health food store 👍
