    Hi Garry,

I get really bad pains on my left side and tend to take Buscopan which is for IBS ad painkillers, I get terrible wind sometimes and I find going to the toilet helps, I am just very careful what I eat and the docs have told me no fried or spicy foods. I had tests to see if lactose and gluten intolerant but I'm neither and the docs think I may have IBS from the symptoms I am experiencing and I did have months ago bad gastroenteritis and a urine infection. Waiting to see a specialist. Hope this helps.

I had a bad diet too then I started to get ill, diarrhoea and stomach cramps. My cramps are right hand side under my ribs. I know for the majority it is left side but always right for me.

I changed my diet, lost 2.5 stone and exercised. I am not cured but better now.

I am not a doc so can not diagnose just say I have IBS and these are the actions I took.

I have ASD so I am a little anti-social so I just bought some OS maps and walked.

I gave up work and definitely helped with the stress if not the finances

I am better though far from cured as tomorrow I could be ill again. It comes and it goes as you describe.

      Thank you

Your symptoms sound like IBS.  I started with constipation,  pain that moves all over my stomach that is dull to deep grinding, stabbing or neuralgic, sore to touch.  My pain varies in intensity.  I have had loose stools, back pain and nausea.  I also get heartburn and have gas from the mouth and backside if I have a bad flare up.  My stomach is always tender but most of the time I don't need my Buscopan or painkillers.  I have no food intolerance; stress is my trigger.

Exercise, taking plenty of fruit and less stress all help.

I find the less stress the better, I also have panic and anxiety. Which doesn't help. Last two days haven't been as stressed. I also got heartburn so have acid capsules to take before food. I need to eat fruit but have been eating a lot of salad and have felt better. But comes and goes. Good days and bad.

I'm on holiday in Italy just now for three months. I have plenty of opportunity to walk on the beach, swim, speak Italian and soak in lots of sun and get vitamin D.  The fruit is much better than in Britain because it is not imported and so is fresher.  All good for my IBS!

Have a lovely holiday smile I went for a spa weekend a few weeks ago with some friends and we all had massages and we went for a swim and in the jacuzzi was lovely, relaxing and stress free smile would love to go again.

Have a lovely time. I am not in work at the mo so the most I can manage is a week in Bournemouth.  Yes the fruit is better in Bournemouth too smile

Joking aside I think getting away and relaxing will be good for the IBS

I notice a difference straight away on holiday with my IBS because I don't have my usual stresses.

I can fully understand that because although it can be boring while I am not working I do not have the level of stress I am used to either and noticed my illness levels are significantly reduced.

The he problem is applying for jobs a grade or two grades down is proving difficult as they think I will leave as I am not challenged enough etc. At the moment we have had some nice days so I have been out although I went out yesterday in shorts and a t-shirt and stunning when I left but 2 hours later it rained as hard as it could. I walked for about an hour to get back and I was absolutely soaked. The joys of British weather smile . Enjoy the sun.
