Is the wrist/hand lick test an accurate way to test your breath?

The other day before brushing my teeth and tongue I licked my wrist and when it dried I smelt it and it didn’t smell nice. I thought well this makes sense because I haven’t brushed my tongue. I brushed my teeth and my tongue, did the test on the other wrist and it smelt the same way it did before I brushed. This isn’t normal is it? If not, what could be causing this? I’ve read online that saliva doesn’t smell, so is it possible there is something in my saliva making it smell when it dries?

Basically, yeah it is kinda accurate to test your breath. But there are certain parameters to getting that accurate result. You may get used to the smell of your breath so it doesn't matter if you are the one who judges whether you have good or bad breath. You may be okay with your breath but to others, it smells horrible. This only applies to those who have okay breath and check if their breath stinks just because they haven't brush their teeth after lunch.
