Is there really anything to be concerned about in my situation?

I know I make alot of posts here, apologies about that, thinking over my recent X-Ray results and Physio assessment, I wonder, am I overplaying my ankle problems in my mind to the point I think my symptoms are worse than they are?  Certainly since my avulsion fracture two years ago I have had on going issues but I am not in a large amount of pain, my mobility is not bad at all (other than a slight limp) and I can function normally.

I still always have a general ache near the site of the original fracture, some pain when walking for a fair while, pain / aching that goes up the left side of my left leg but nothing extreme.

I have kind of lost hope of getting a diagnosis, I mean, if an X-ray result comes back as being okay, and the physio team say my ligaments seem fine, what can it really be?

Do I just go on and think, well this is how it is for the rest of my life, a private appointment is at least £300 for a consultation, and while I can afford it working full time it seems alot to spend for a relative stab in the dark

An X-Ray is not going to show what MIGHT be the problem. You need an MRI. My X-Ray showed nothing. Yes, some swelling but after my fall (I think I've typed this before) I was told I had a grade 3 sprain. Nothing more. But I could not walk with out pain and it was intense!

Two feet docs and still nothing ... Finally went to my guy now and he yes, took the x-ray ... .and then said our next step is an MRI. An MRI is the only thing that will show if something is torn, like your ligaments or tendons.  I knew within a week! And from there surgery.  X-ray is only going to show your bones. Your feet as you know have so much more in there then just bones.

    Request an MRI!

The thing is with the NHS I can beg kick and scream all I want for an MRI, but the chances of me having one are next to zero, I will of cause ask but my physio has already said no : /

When I broke my ankle,  I too had both an x-ray and a CT scan as it was pretty obvious I had some ligament damage  ( when I went to the emergency room my left foot was jacked all the way over to the left ). I assume you’re  in the UK and your medical system is different than the USA’s  but if possible I’d have a frank discussion with your Dr. and beg them for either an MRI or CT scan especially since you still have pain after two years which stands to reason there is something that has not healed correctly.
