Is this herpes? Went to the gyro today and have to wait 5 days...

Today I went to the gyno since I've been experiencing painful cuts near my vulva. She took a look at them and took a culture to test for herpes. She said theres a possibility it can be herpes but I have to wait 5 days for the results. I've been freaking out all afternoon and don't know what I will do if I end up having herpes. Nothing I've seen online looks like what I have and I'm not sure whether thats a good or a bad thing... it's just a waiting game at this point.

Here's the story: I had sex last Saturday night with a guy I had met for the first time, we used a condom but he did do oral on me. I had a few drinks and was up really late, but I remember everything. I told him I wasn't wet enough to have sex and I remember it being somewhat painful... fast forward to the next few days and I was extremely uncomfortable which is sometimes common for me after sex especially if its rough or they're bigger... but this time I saw tiny cuts down near my vulva opening near my perineum. It hurts to pee, and 6 days later its still super inflamed and hurts when I touch it. As you can see from the picture the bottom looks like my skin has been chaffed raw. On the right side there's another lesion as well. To anyone that has experienced their first outbreak, does this look like herpes?

The gyno gave me an anti-viral medication and told me I can start taking it before I get my tests results.. I'm going to go pick it up. I've never felt like my life is over more than now... cry

Any help would be appreciated!

I cannot say for sure if it is herpes, as I do not have the virus (that I know of - I did have relations with a guy who told me after the fact that he had a herpes outbreak a few years prior grr). I am still petrified like yourself that I will have an outbreak - I recently went for an STD panel and I cannot remember if they looked for HSV-2?

But after reading many forums, it is not the end of the world. There are far worse STDs to get. And after the first outbreak, your body creates antibodies against the virus so the outbreaks become less and less.

Majority of the population has the virus and doesn't even know it.

Thank you, you're totally right. The more I've read online, the more I've started to realized that it's mostly the stigma that is associated with it. Most people have normal sex lives fro, what I've read, so I guess now I just have to play the waiting game for the results to come back sad

I’ve had genital herpes for years and I’ll proudly say it. It’s not the end of the world if you do have it. I’ve been sexually active with my fiancée for 3 years! She doesn’t have it. I have had only 1 reminssion outbreak in 4-5 years. Only advice I can say is it gets better and if they turn into pimples do not pop them it will leave permanent scarring best of luck

Thanks for your support. I've done a lot more research today, and I've come to the conclusion if I do have it that it's not the end of the world. I was shocked as to how many people have the virus and don't know it. Thanks for sharing your story it definitley helped ease my mind.

The pic is not clear actually but at least i can see some cuts in skin.

Herpes does not present with cuts at first. It is like blisters that are itchy then they turn to scabs unless you pop these blisters so they can appear as cuts. Did you have these blisters??

I guess these cuts will be only as a sign of rough sex and inflammation.

Im a man with herpes btw

I wanted to post an update in case anyone comes across this with something similar. I did end being diagnosed with genital herpes (hsv1).
