Is this pain my IBS???

I have IBS and have had for several years. I control it through diet (avoiding the things that set it off) and all has been fine. Suddenly 4 months ago I have terrible pain in my back in the kidney area on both sides (comes and goes) pain in both sides and front of my abdomen, bloating and I keep bringing up bile. The symptoms are everyday and much worse during my period. My gp has done LOADS of bloods, water samples etc and says it's all fine and it is my IBS, I feel that it isn't, however he has given me mebeverine and omeprazole to take. This is keeping the bloating and bile off but the back pain etc is no better. Has anyone any ideas? Could my IBS have got really bad and constant for no apparant reason? Or is my gp cluthing at straws because he can't find what's wrong? I'm in pain most days and quite scared!

I agree, you should definitely go back to your GP to be certain that it is only IBS.
However, I'm afraid IBS can affect you every day ... I suffer every single day with it quite severely and have done for the last 4 or 5 years.
I take mebeverine which does help a LOT with the symptoms (I feel 100 times worse if I forget to take it!).
I really do hope it's nothing more serious than IBS, and I wish you luck with finding something to help you get through the bad days x

I am waiting for an abdominal scan (scheduled not until jan 14th) and the results of yet more blood and urine tests. In the meantime, the doctor has prescribed that I take anti-inflammatories constantly along with painkillers and my usual mebeverine. I am not sure that putting such a cocktail of meds into my system will help at all or even make matters worse, but its only day 1 with the anti-inflams and painkillers so we'll see how it goes.
The doctor did mention the possibility of gallstones causing the back pain, hence the scan being ordered, I am no doctor, but surely my low fat diet would mean that i am less likely to get these?!?
I hope that you find out what is causing your back pain, and if possible let us know here. I'll post my diagnosis as soon as I get it.
