Is this possible with Herpes? News from my EX after being diagnosed

Hello,

My ex told me she had a primary outbreak 8 years ago and it started on her vagina, spread to her legs and stomach, inside her mouth and everything. It was all over her body and very painful and miserable she had to go to the ER.

She said she was diagnosed with type 1, which her doctor said only effects the mouth (Not true in 2018) - she disclosed this info with me when we started dating. I thought, a cold sore... big deal.

Now 4 years later, i have a genital sore. Although I know its possible she had a cut on her lip or something and went down on me- what confuses me is why hers started genitally and settled on her face.

I'm aware this virus is tricky and hard to understand, but can it do this? Or did she have GHSV and OHSV and just never notice a genital outbreak after her initial?

If she had a genital outbreak years ago regardless of it not happening again in years. She still has it. After being diagnosed the virus sheds less during the year but doesn’t mean she can’t pass it on. Only way to know if you have is to get a freshly sore cultured

Just did two days ago. Waiting to hear back. Symptoms appeared after I slept with previous partner who is now currently experiencing an initial outbreak. Very confused. I was convinced she gave it to me but now feel as if my ex may have.

I was tested in februrary and was clean for both types. It seems possible I could have been infected already while being negative but am just now having an outbreak.

The virus can be in you for years with out activating. Do you know 100% you got tested in February because when you ask for a std panel they don’t test for herpes unless requested too. In your case if your current sexual partner is having an out break with blisters sores etc it’s a high chance she has he herpes and not 100% your fault. Like I said the virus can live in us for years and no symptoms. Don’t attack your self 90% of the population has herpes 1 . Good thing about all this is if you have it (which blood is not always accurate culture is better) and your partner has it you don’t have to worry about anything. You can still live normal lifes especially if you love each other. Also it sounds like your ex has herpes 1 and 2 but herpes 2 can be passed to your lips and vice versa if you do oral and or penetration

Btw your current partner may have not known she had it or she didn’t have it and you passed it to her. Every one is different some people newly infected has an out break in less than 48hrs others may not have one for years

Yes, I am sure I was tested for both types and were both negative. I went and grabbed the test from my previous doctor before getting re-tested a few days ago at planned parenthood.
