It went so wrong!

Has anyone had an endoscopy go badly wrong? I tried to do it on Friday but it wouldn't go down my throat! It was to see if i had coeliac disease. My health has got from bad to worse this year! Does anyone else know how else (if any other way) you can be tested for this? My doctors test said 127 on a coeliac serology. Is that high? Did you cut gluten after this, if so how long before you felt a bit more human? I have just felt grim this year. Please help, i am veggie and it now seems a coeliac too. Still unsure what is safe to eat. Still feel quite grim. After having wheat for so long are there any side effects, that i should look out for?

Hi Sam,when i had too have endoscopy i could not bear to have something down my throat,so i still had it done ,but under deep sedation which is like general anaesthetic but not that deep. The other problem is that the symptoms for coeliac can also be for ibs .For the tests to be accurate you must not stop taking gluten

Hi Msrsh, thanks for your post back, the problem i tried with sedation and it made me feel worse. I don't tolerate anything in my mouth at the dentist very well, i can't remember my last camera test, it was over 10 years back. I spoke to a dietitian and she had advised me to speak to my doctor about this test or lack of it and not having gluten. I am probably having trace amounts tbh because i had gravy with my dinner and i can't remember a gluten free label on it. I am just fed up myself of being so ill. I feel terrible every day! I have to do something, i am in pain daily.

Hi Sam, the sedation i am referring too ,you would not feel as they give you an injection to make you sleepy and you would not feel anything until you are awake..have you spoken to a ear ,nose throat specialist .Which area do you live in .

Hi marsh, i wish i knew what the sedation was because i felt all of the test still and no better. I don't mind having it done i just won't have it done this way again though. What is deep sedation this wasn't offered only light sedation! I am in Leicester, Leicestershire.

Hi Sam I had it done a few years ago, was awful. Blood tests can confirm celiac but you have to eat gluten and wheat for atra least 6 weeks for positive test. Mine came back ok but still have horrific stomach issues hope you get sorted out.

Oh that's very interesting! My blood test a coeliac serology was at 127, i spoke to my dietitian who said that was really high and they needed to try NO gluten for a while and see if i get any better, by the time she rang i'd already decided to experiment with my diet try as little gluten as possible. I've stuck to it. It's tough but my doctor is ringing on Monday so i only need to try it until then and see what she says.

Hey Sam, Sorry for that...I had endoscopy too, But it went well. Your blood tests can also confirm the diagnosis. Well every laboratory has their own parameters of what is normal, So can't say exactly what your results mean. They do anti tTG IgA and anti tTG IgG. Plus in order to get those tests positive you need to be on gluten diet.

    Reference Values

    <4.0 U/mL (negative)

    4.0-10.0 U/mL (weak positive)

    10.0 U/mL (positive)

Reference values apply to all ages.

This is myoclinic laboratory reference value for the test ANti tTG IgA.

I had negative results but still I can't eat gluten..I have Ibs and I feel it is very heavy for my stomach...After 1 year of gluten free I started eating some gluten, Which I think I can tolerate, But still less amount than what i used have before.

Another symptom of gluten sensitivity is, if you eat gluten you develop rashes mainly on elbow and is very very itchy.
